thank you so much, its seems so devastating at first. Now seeing as I didnt get mine for almost a year (dental process at the VA (Veterans Hospital) i had to go without teeth to go shopping etc.. but my social life stopped and unfortunantly i gain like 20lbs from not getting out as much. I was wondering were you top dentures really uncomfortable and how long did it take to get used to, even though they look normal its feels like i have a horse mouth, just so big in my mouth, was that for you to?
@oceaneyess67 It took about 2 weeks for me to be *ok* with how they felt in my mouth and I guess gradually over time I forgot about them. I can't pinpoint a date, it just gets easier and easier. It's totally normal since they aren't your teeth and are in fact a big chunk of "stuff" in your mouth. But over time, you get used to them being in your mouth and become less aware of them, until they begin to feel normal.....
@kalinjax thank you so much for responding back it was very considerate. Even though common sense tells me there are others like me it just didnt sink in until i researched this topic on youtube and seeing how you and others were able to hold convertations (I know that seems minor and a normal thing) eat/drink etc.. without seeming difficult our uncomfortable, its truly has help me adjust and realize yea it is a process an will take time BUT it will work out.
That was definitely a fail on YouTube's part lol. Sorry about that, I switched back to the old design. I will message you within the next hour:-) Take care!
I created a channel (which I have been avoiding for years) just so I could message you. Only to find that there is no such feature (a true fail, to be sure)!
I just need to know one thing: How do you avoid taking them out in front of your husband? My E-Day was three weeks ago today! My husband is in the Navy, so I had to go through it all on my own. I went into it sooo much stronger than I ever thought possible because of you. He comes home in 4 days. I have a partial (top & bottom). Help!
You look about the same age I was when I had to get dentures. Bless your heart for being so confident. I am mid 50's now and still my husband has not seen me without them. Even when I have surgery, I always tell recovery to be sure they are back in before my husband comes in. People don't understand I guess but I have some vanity left. Take care and stay as pretty as you are! You really inspire this ol' lady. LOL God Bless.
i'm also a dessert storm/sheild vet the v.a. gave no asssistance when i wasin terrible pain a few months ago they said i needed to be homeless or a blkin war vet so much for my army service cant even get my teeth pulled that was aching absolutely ridicoulous
can i ask if you have denture implants ? after 5-6 yrs of not having dental insurance i went to the dentist only to be told i have 7 infections and there's nothing else but to have dentures i walked out of the dental office devasted my mom has dentures i've lost my fight w/my teeth i could'nt even sleep last night
how dare anyone tell you you should have to take your teeth out.. why should you?? for the sake of someones entertainment.. I appreciate the soul fact that you make these videos at all.. what the heck is the point of getting beautiful teeth made only to take them out and show yourself without them.. for what?? while you are at it why dont you strip naked and show every little other flaw on your body.. what a stupid concept. i appreciate your self respect.. you look awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please never let someone make you feel ashamed where there is no shame , my teeth were destroyed due to a IED explosion in Iraq. The best thing I did was ask my dentist straight out "Enough they are all going to eventually brake" the bridges would be a waste just pull them give me dentures. Granted right now its hard to wear them they hurt, they need adjustment which is no longer covered, as long as I don't eat or talk they still work great :) best choice I ever made DO IT NOW and smile
@BearsDarkAngel First off, THANK YOU for your service in Iraq. I sincerely mean that. My brother is over in Bahrain right now, I come from a family with a long history of military service so I respect your efforts. How long have you had your dentures? I eat much better with mine and I haven't even had a reline in like 5 months. Do you think they were made properly? Have you ever been able to properly function with them? I'd go back and tell them I want a do-over....
@kalinjax Thank you and no they are done properly I was ever able to get then reline sense they were made coming close to 2 years I know they are made correctly, I know its simply because allots has changed sense they put them in the first time :) I know the next questing and the sad answer to that is like thousands of Nat Guard members I was denied benefits and after 4 years I gave up fighting t got to painful and all consuming
Talk about coming out of the closet, I spend allot of time in a video chat room, and I'm often on cam. Well I guess someone tracked my comments, found out I wore dentures and said some nasty ignorant comments about denture wearers which is a mute point, he threatened to "expose" me in the chat, granted its no ones business but mine, I went in and posted a I wear dentures and if you got a problem PM me funny I got support compliments and help 3 people chose dentures over hiding in shame.
@BearsDarkAngel Wow I would have called that person out SO quick LOL. How psycho is that? He's cyberstalking you to dig up dirt and expose you to people in an online chatroom?!?! Yet *you're* the weirdo?! lmao. Wow. "Hey everyone, so and so wears dentures!".......room goes silent. Crickets chirp. lol. That's lame. Glad you spoke up about it because he sounds like a total idiot lmao.
I look at what you wrote about nerdgirlsm and cherrylips333 and just as they inspired you to share your feelings and experiences on video, there is a person who has not only inspired me but encouraged me to over come my feelings of shame and guilt she goes by the nickname of kalinjax. I have had my full upper and lower dentures for a year and a half now my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I will be starting my own video's soon, It is my hope that together we can educate other's =^_^=
It's nobody's business what you look like without your teeth, that's between you and your dentist ONLY. If you are not comfortable taking them out in front of your own husband why would you take them out in front of an entire world. Stay strong and stand your ground, there are plenty of places on YT for people who do feel comfortable taking them out to show these people what it looks like. FYI, DO NOT sleep WITHOUT your teeth, your face will concave, clean them while you're in the shower.
There is nothing wrong with you not wanting to take your teeth out and post it. I agree with you. On the flip side, I do admit nerdgirlism helped me through my initial freak out, I'm thankful. She can take her teeth out, and I agree, she's found this helpful for herself, and for those of us going through this.
Like you, I also don't let my spouse see me w/o. And d'uh, never thought of doing the denture bath daytime. How did that escape me. I also prefer nights together with my face intact.
@Merrida100 yes nerdgirlsm and cherrylips333 were the two girls who inspired me to openly talk about my experiences on videos, I think what they did in putting themselves out there like that has really helped a lot of people- it helped me when I started out! And yes, I just can't be seen without mine, if I look too long at myself without them I start getting a little sad and I definitely don't want that!
@jpdlable Yes pretty much all dentists recommend taking them out to soak at night but I enjoy my nights with my hubby too much to go toothless LOL so I just soak them at different periods through out the day when he is at work- typically when I am bathing and shaving my legs, getting ready like doing my hair and makeup or like after I eat or something. I personally don't see a problem in doing it that way but always do what you feel comfortable doing!
sorry! lol I'm not used to the format of these posts...so, sorry if you have to read them backwards! :) As for appearance - my mom was beautiful, but I thought she looked absolutely HORRIBLE w/o her teeth. I know it's terrible to say, but it was horrifying to see her that way! I've seen others in worse situations w/no teeth whatsoever and still feel the same. No need to apologize though, you've done a great job and I commend you for doing so. ;)
@mygalmo I look HORRIBLE without teeth and I truly mean that. I do not let anyone see me without my teeth- only my kids, not even my husband LOL. But I would rather not look great only parts of the day than ALL the time, ya know? Rotten teeth is NOT better than no teeth, contrary to what some would think. Just the decay in my mouth really brought my appearance down dramatically. I looked worn out and always felt dirty!
Hey Kal! Just wanted to thank you for sharing these videos and your experience with all that you had to go through. You look STUNNING!! And to be quite frank, when I first saw your video I thought you were going to hold the cam for somebody elses story! Ha! I'm so glad to hear that your hubby has got your back on this. I'm up for an upper in the next couple of weeks so this is how I came across your videos. I've been pretty nervous about all of this, as u can imagine, but you've really ...
@mygalmo Hey I'm glad you like the videos;-p and talk about being nervous omg I REALLY went through it which is why I decided to do the videos to help others through it. But my thoughts are if your teeth are at the point that you need dentures then it's for the best that you get them so just stay positive and don't focus on those nagging little negative thoughts that pop up. Let me know how it goes!
@kalinjax Thank you!!! Will do! I really appreciate your support! Love the comments you made about your hubby! I've been w/my sweetheart & his daughter going on 3 years now. He is very supportive of what I'm going through, but I still can't stop thinking about the day we first met and how he fell in love with my big bright smile. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get that back. And again...you look fantastic!!! I would've NEVER known!!! And beautiful hair too! :) Thanks again!
helped A LOT!!! My dentist just asked what I was most concerned about, and I think you pretty much NAILED it on the head! My fears have been about the post experience. I'm torturing myself wondering if they're going to fly across the table while dining; or being able to kiss my sweetheart; or his teenage daughter staring and asking a million questions about my new appearance. I have already VOWED to NEVER EVER remove them in front of others, and I think it's rude for people to think that you
or I would ever do that! That's like asking me if I wear a girdle or a thong and then being asked to demonstrate. Pa'lease! Anyway ... you're sooooo awesome and so brave to do these videos. I'm definitely keeping in touch with you. I'm so scared...but I know I'll be ok. I think it's only natural to be a little scared - and I also think it's human nature to have a little vanity too. As for folks who really want to see a mouth w/o teeth alls they have to do is look inside a newborn's mouth
Hey Kal!!! You go girl!!! I love all of your vidz!! I must say this is the first comment I make cuz I'm just buggin on the fact that people have actually asked you to remove your teeth! Like seriously thats just rude and just not nice whatsoever!! You have said in other videos that you are not gonna remove them and they should respect that decision you've made! If it were someone else they would've probably stopped making these vidz.... So I thank you soooo much for continuing them they sure d
@Rosiepinkful Thank you;-p Yes I do still get messages about it and ya know, I am just gonna have to ignore it because I am positive the requests won't stop just because I made the video lol.
Michael- totally. Because it is shocking. I love watching things about extreme makeovers and all but that involves willing participants. Its sooooo rude and inappropriate to pressure someone into doing something they have stated they.are not comfortable with.
You really nailed this topic with your video. I feel exactly the same way about people seeing me without teeth. I've had close friends who know about me getting dentures practically BEG me to take them out and it's just not gonna happen. I do believe it's something on their part....a shock value or fetish maybe.
i think some people have a denture fetish!!, i am sure of it, i think they think its sexy to see us without our teeth in.but i think you shouldnt do something you dont feel comfortable doing.dont give in to the pressure from these people.there are loads of people on YT that they can go and watch them take there teeth out!!! XXX
@MsLavenderRose1 Yeah definitely a fetish that I don't understand but then again I saw a documentary and there was a guy who seriously got off on blowing up balloons and popping them hahaha.
Well said!!! Thanks for being honest and real : )
