  • Cool video man. If anyone out there lives in the Utah area I'm looking to network with spiritual, permaculture-minded individuals.

  • Great video Sergei. How did you acquire all this amazing beneficial knowledge?

  • I actually found some of this on a trip down to Oregon with my dad and my dad's friend. We didn't know what it was at first, but I thought it looked cool. Now that I know what it is, I wish I could go back down there and get some, XD

  • fuck you

  • Miner's Lettuce: Good for scurvy. LoL wtf haha!

Certain plants have sensitive roots. When you pull them out and eat them, they will die. LMAO ROFL love this!

But I kid. Great video. My favorite in the miner's lettuce series.

I was in Guanajuato, Mexico for a summer, and learned which cactus and cactus fruits were edible while horseback riding in the mountains. Got to say they were yummy too!

  • @shah247 Yeah, I've been to redwood, I've been to hollywood, I'd been searching for these miner's lettuce with the heart of gold, should keep me young, cuz I'm gettin' old.

  • Hey Sergei, consider including your mago skins..........they're generally not too chewy and they taste ok too. Usually it seems like a lot of the minerals hide in the skins of fruits and vegetables....

  • This guy smokes more plants than he eats, the turd smoothie at the end looked pretty goddamn gross, just eat fried flesh like the rest of us, when I pick a plant I thank mutha naycha for letting me sacrifice the humble plant's life in order to nourish the anus of my soul.

  • STALKING wild greens.

  • this is a vegetarian channel

  • NATURALSHOP.CA is 100% safe natural product to buy more herbs, seeds, plant extracts to make a trip. Sale of Morning Glory and Hawaiian Baby Woodrose and many others. Sale of powerful product to awaken the senses, cannabis, wild lettuce seeds can be ordered by internet, phone, check, cash and even Live With support 24 / 24 7 days / 7

  • It's a wierd coincidence that I just cleared about 1000 sqft of this stuff while clearing weeds out of my Mother's orchard and happened across this video not 10 days later. I remembered thinking, "this plant looks beautiful and smells awesome" so I only whacked the tallest shoots. Luckily its almost completely grown back in just a week or so. I'm going to get a field guide for edibles first just to be on the safe side, but I'm stoked on getting free salads.

  • My sister shared a Miners Lettuce salad with me and I have to say it was the BEST Green Lettuce I've eaten in a long time. I usually forgo other lettuces in favor of putting parsley, celantro, and/or arugula with my vegetables of choice. This apparently grows quite abundantly just north of San Francisco. Hoping others will take the opportunity to try some. Will definitely incorporate into my Organic Garden. Education helps teach people what's Really important.

  • watch?v=urW7_s6g8_8 Which of these are edible?

  • Thanks for posting, good info. To make a god thing even better, knowing the range of the plant (where in the US it can be found), the habitat (soil type, elevation, etc), and season (you mentioned early May, but is it still edible and palatable later in the season, or do the leaves die back later in the year, etc).

  • Stalking the wilds is fun, but miner's lettuce is a good example where one can plant seeds in a shady area (under trees and shrubs) to naturalize. Make it a part of a longer and larger permaculture plan, starting in your backyard.

  • are there any look alikes thats poison?

  • awesome video mate!

  • Grows here in Europe too...I wish schools weren't so afraid of teaching children herbal knowledge. Yesterday my daughter ( she's in 1. grade) showed her classmates some wild garlic mustard leafs and the teachers were afraid of it being poisonous and told her to stop...knowing wild edibles is truly a treasure...

  • Nice, dude, caring for the plants :) Applause indeed! <3

  • 2 years back, we discovered a field of miners lettuce in my neighbour's garden (actully a day care for elders). This Feb, I finally pump up enough courage to ask for a patch of them. The gardener was so nice and gave us a piece of miners lettuce with it's turf, so we can plant them in a pot in our apartment. He also said we're welcome to go back for more, there is a year supply.

    What a beautiful day!

  • where i found miners lettuce there was actually an old miner who lived in the area and i stayed in the remnants of his cabin.

  • i just got back from the giant redwood forest in kings canyon and this stuff was everywhere!!!!!

lets just say that i LIVED off this stuff while i was there!!!

  • Considering how many toxic plants there are out there, encouraging people who have little or no knowledge of wild edible plants and assuming they will be able to identify this in the wild is seriously careless and fucked up. I know you mean well mate but try using your brain before you post shit like this on the internet.

  • learn to identify, fool..

  • Hey idiot, you're completely missing the point but thanks for being a dickhead.

  • While I mostly agree, on the other hand there aren't any known poisonous look-a-likes for Miner's Lettuce. They're extremely easy to identify and it's unlikely that even the most inexperienced individuals could go wrong.

  • K I concede that I was being an idiot. :-) Cheers.

  • @Nigelxman what's wrong with educating people? if there are a few fucking idiots out there that poison themself because they just won't listen then i think that is just natural selection doing its job perfectly.

  • Is miner's lettuce only located on the east coast and the mountains of the west coast. I live in Texas, and I have never seen miner's lettuce in the wild....only pictures in books.

  • I love lettuce.

  • Great vid and awesome idea on the milk jug harvester! I can't wait to watch more.

  • HI Sergei, My family lives in England UK. We also love foraging wild foods, just wish we can do it more often here. Your videos are so informative & fun at the same time, even my 3 and 6 years kids love them.

Keep up with the good work. Thank you for doing these. Love & Blessings, Chang-yu

  • I bet your videos would be well received as shorts on nationwide PBS stations.

Thank you for teaching us the value of wild edibles with this wonderful up-close & personal venue.

  • Thanks! Love the stuff. Trying to grow it at home but it's died down. Will it come back up again in the spring? I went to the park today to see if it was there, as it was last time I visited, but didn't see any. However, I saw tiny plants that may have been miner's lettuce with only 2 tiny leaves so far. Wondering if they're just emerging after a few autumn rains.

  • Where I live in Northern California there was none whatsoever in Autumn/Winter and I could only find a few traces.

Now with spring coming, it's popping up- with the recent rains it will bush out and get huge.

    Springtime.

  • Oh sry, *Blushes* this is the vegetable. . .

  • I do not contain vitamins, you know

  • Know anyone that can do this same thing about plants on the east coast- midatlantic area?

  • Hey Sergei! Thank you for the sending some magic from the forest, I'm in Chicago and am so grateful for the Sprngtime. I have a garden abundant with wild violets and have been enjoying them along with our dandelions and leaves from our concord grapevine that is 100 years old. Yay! It was a long and cold winter this year, but the promise of Spring carried me thru! Thank you for all you do, Love and Angel Blessings, Maria

  • Lookin' good Sergei!!

  • /watch?v=1UEOZGFzPas

  • Thank you, I'm going out to look for miner's lettue. keep the video's coming. This is better then a photo in a book.
