Would you say that the size of violins is purely for the size of the person? Or it has an effect on the sound quality and therefore more suited for what the person using it wants?

Thanx for the question. I'd say the size should be almost entirely determined by the size of the person.
Some students will go for a bigger size violin than they can manage to attain a bigger, deeper sound.
That can be pretty detrimental to your technique, so I don't really recommend it....
The sound of violins vary dramatically, so it should be possible to find the sound you want in the
size that suits you.
