olvoron is powdered milk candy, made of flour, sugar butter and powdered milk. The flour is toasted, all the ingredients are mixed and shaped into round or oval-shaped molds. It is believe that making polvoron started during the American occupation to use up the huge amount of powdered milk brought in by the Americans. Polvoron over the years has become one of the most loved sweet Filipino delicacy.
It's actually spanish. I'm sorry. The word Polvoron comes from the spanish word; polvo which means powder. You can buy polvoron packaged in spain. It's made with almond meal. Filipino polvoron is a derivative using the many native ingredients found in the philippines
Filipino's Polvoron uses melted margarine and the flour's toasted then all mix up with sugar... then with a special mold individually and wrapped in Japanese silk paper...

I prefer our version, because he used manteca...(pork fat) while Filipino polvoron is made of Margarine!
