Noticed at the very end of this episode, they drop in about 6 bars of Brendan Power harmonica ... I think it's from "Mountain Road" ... but can't quite tell. Anyone else notice this? (after laughing to the point of crying)
Arzzz sheets .....lol loved it, im a linguist too and that was funny! it happens both ways in all languages, the word "chin" in English is a great source of obvious amusement in Japan as it means penis. a town near me is called Kisarazu and up near my favourite golf course is a place called Sakashita......
I'm a Romanian linguist, and I find Mr. May's reaction rather offensive! Anyone can burst into laughter in a given situation, but BBC 2 should have edited the show before broadcasting it!!! I was really upset when my 9yo daughter asked me why they were laughing when they heard Romanian and I couldn't give her an immediate answer. Luckily , she came up with the answer herself :they're very silly!
@adidima2002 Oh, dear lord. He's not making fun of Romanians or the Romanian language. He's laughing because a normal Romanian word sounds like an English swear word. Innocent fun and nothing to be offended over. I'd rather live in a world where I'm occasionally offended than live in one where everybody has to walk on eggshells for fear their every interaction might not be dull and sterile.
