  • Uncomplicated music that you feel and understand. Not all of us can afford the 21st century's cost of love.

  • American Pimp.

  • brings back middle school memories, got to love it!

  • You KNOW your a great group when your music can be sampled by any artist from Keith Sweat to Snoop Dogg....I'm gonna need an "Unsung" episode on Slave. ASAP.

    ~Buttercup

  • And Keith Sweat aint no vocal virtuoso either, I mean damn! Crazy talk...

  • Keith Sweat's version? Whaaaa-aat?! Crackity crack - Just Say No, Kid. Just say no...

  • Comment removed

  • these were the days when music was music.

  • I know this is the original song (which is a favorite of mine because of the instruments -- especially the bassline) but the Keith Sweat version is just a tad bit better in my opinion. Steve Arrington is singing very flat compared to the background singers and the backing instruments especially the first time he sings "Can we spend some time". Just listen to it again, you'll see what I mean. Am I being picky? Maybe. Am I being truthful? Yes.

  • @mysterybat35 You can`t compare Keith Sweat with Slave. That`s like comparing Madonna with Marvin Gaye

  • @1ktyree of course not. just this song. It's almost as if Slave recorded this song on one take. It's like they didn't even try to perfect the vocals. Why the hell are the background vocalists more on pitch than the lead vocalist? Anyone with a musically trained ear can hear this. Steve sounds great on the chorus but when he goes back to the main vocals it sounds like he is talking. He's very flat.I respect the fact that Slave originated this great song but the Keith Sweat version is a LOT better.

  • @mysterybat35 - This is an ORIGINAL, imperfections and all. Not to be re-made by anyone. Musically trained ear? Please .....

  • @kccurryx5 good point. But it doesn't negate the fact that there WAS a remake, that just happened to be (in my humble opinion -- not yours obviously) a lot better than the original.I've said before I respect the fact that the original was good in itself. BUT, if I am going to "call it like I see/hear it" it's almost as if Slave didn't even TRY to correct the imperfections -- like they just said "ok Take 1 is just alright lets just keep it". Arrington is flat compared to the instruments

  • @1ktyree You are so right. I respect Keith Sweat, he was very good and he earned his place in the industry, but this wasn't his song......and he did a damn good job with this version!

  • @mysterybat35 I agree with you. You don't got to be a genius to hear the vox on this are not as good as Keith's.

  • Wow. This made my night... almost. :-D Thank You.

  • Every time I play this classic jam I closed my eyes and slowly swing my arms in the air....

  • This jam is timeless!!!!!!!

  • Classic Jam!!!!!!!

  • Now that is a tuuune!

  • BRING DAT ASS BACK JUSSS A LITTLE BIT.

  • To mediasound7. The bass player was no other than the late Mark the "Hansolar" Adams

who passed away in March, the 5th 2011. Gone but not forgotten. One of the best if not.

S L A V E a true force of funk. Long live the "Hansolar" may he rest in peace. His legacy

continues on through his many bass filled grooves. R.I.P Mark Adams & Drac.

  • great song .

  • Rest In Peace Mr. Mark Adams - Gone But Not Forgotten :(

  • R I P BROTHER MARK

  • Yeah this band was one of the all time great bands that came out of the midwest. Dayton, OH, Dayton, was all ways throwing down with great funk bands. I got a chance to see this band after 30 some years in downtown Pontiac Michigan 2004. Nice concert. But always did dig this band. One of my favorite funk bands out of Dayton OH.

Basskat Michael G Detroit MI. USA

  • sup HoneyGurl ? Just a Touch.. A little Bit ..Of Your Love ..just a little bit !!! ;- )

  • Damn! There are just no good bands anymore. That goes for Rock, Soul, Country, R&B, funk, you name it. I just remember back in the day when all racial barriers were out the window and it was all just about getting down.

  • @tctank22 down down

  • @tctank22 I agree with you wholeheartedly! Bands in these days just got down! Now the emphasis has been taken off the bands and just sampling is taking over.

  • @tmack4 sampling is fine, as long as they sample funk like this and we hear more of it

  • @tctank22 the thing is, that, funk will always been a mainstay, even in 2056

  • @tctank22 A
