  • "You millions, I embrace you. This kiss is for all the world!" from Ode to Joy. How this piece makes me feel.

  • Dear Youtube staff, I would like to report a problem with this video. It appears to contain a dislike button. Though, 4 people acidentally slipped their mice and clicked on it. Please have it removed as soon as possible. Thank You.

  • makes me so full of emotion, hearing the beauty of this music.

  • this is by far the greatest musical compostion ever written over any other classical, pop, rock, jazz, blues, etc. song.

  • Isn't it just amazing how what is, bluntly speaking, a load of sounds at different pitches (Though highly organised ones) can spark such a huge amount of emotions in us.

I'm at a loss at how people have chosen modern music over... this.

  • This is Amaizing SPEECHLESS!!!...

  • sublime...

  • Karajan is great, but I also like Toscanini's.

  • A shame that Furtwängler has never been correctly recorded. He was the "true" master of Beethoven - certainly not Karajan (this is not a denial of his qualities as a director)

  • You can feel it... the power of creation. I see this swirling, fluid like substance that radiates the entire spectrum of colors, glowing, flowing. The energy, essence, breath of creation and imagination. Music like this inspires, sparks, it flows. The words mean very little. The power of the music speaks for itself. If you cannot enjoy music such as this, you are doomed.

  • @Kronimiciad The words means very little? Was ist los? .Freude.Freude? Joy,Joy.!!

Steht vor Gott,? Stand before God! Words resting on a pure and clean F major chord..words and music work perfectly together here. These are important words. Beethoven bases the entire piece of the 9th on Schiller's Ode to Joy and when he got to Heaven and stood before God and finally heard the beauty of both the words of Schiller and the music he wrote, that meant a whole lot to him as well as to the angels.

  • OK where is the final part?

  • Whenever I get depressed about my percieved constraints and limitations in life, I go and listen to this. Bashes all the self-pity every time.

  • Don't think this is the whole mvt. Only the best part.

  • Maestro.mon respectement.DEUTSCHLAND DU LAND DER WELTBESTEN KOMPONISTEN UND DIRIGENTEN ! EHRE SEI DIR AUF EWIG ! ! ! !!

  • Nobody beats Beethoven and there has been only one conductor who understands him fully: Herbert von Karajan.

But I have been away for a while to come back and see that YouTube has changed. I can not find the 23 minute long performance of the '60's. That was dramatic, nothing better eversince I am afraid. Who can give me the details so I can buy its dvd in a regular shop?

  • @MrJeyson07 those clips got shut down by the copyright holder. :(

  • @MrJeyson07 I was also looking for the long version!!

  • @MrJeyson07 Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 / Karajan, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra google it

  • @MrJeyson07 very very very true. Karajan and Beethoven, both are genius . Or both are crazy each other ...

  • @MrJeyson07 You forgot the master: Wilhelm Furtwängler

  • @MrJeyson07 can you find it? i have been looking for it too

  • @MrJeyson07 It was released by the Deutsche Grammophon in 2005 as a 3-DVD-Box, but as far as I know, you can also buy the DVDs seperated. The recording of the Ninth in 1968 is included in the DVD "Karajan Beethoven Symphonies 7, 8 & 9". It was recorded with Gundola Janowitz, Christa Ludwig, Jess Thomas and Walter Berry.

The filming was done by Unitel.

Hopefully, this was helpful for you.

  • this is pure Heaven

  • @sadati19660404 lo..wot is sis gegritzel mien hah? hope 4 u its gots a good meaning.if not ur wall cant be high enough.no bad word against maestro-schiller.oki!?

  • When you say 9th, you say karajan. Nobody better than him.

  • @pinguinoafgano Did you hear the New World Symphony from Dvorak by Karajan? Its wonderful! I'm not a music expert but when I listen to Karajan it seems to have a soul.. as I said, I can't explain.

  • @Ceneviva yes. According to me, Karajan is definitely the best conductor ever.

  • @pinguinoafgano Exactly true.

  • what year is this

  • @pooching22

    September 1986, I believe.

  • @plouw09 these few words allowed me to find the exact dvd version, thank you :D
