  • Aye, that's coming on nicely.

Liking the solo this time round. Just thinking if you added a middle eight to lift it a little bit more, then I reckon you'd have it down pat.

  • Cheers, Kim... Appreciated!

Not quite sure what you mean, though.... where would a middle eight fit in? And don't you dare say "In the middle"... what you got in mind?

    Rock on

  • O.K, a middle eight is basically a way of changing the tone of a song or acting as a turn-around to get back to the main theme of the song. A lot of rock songs use it as a way of building up to a guitar solo. What I reckon could work is if you had a section with some lighter chords and lyrics to advance the story - then maybe another guitar solo before bringing it back down again. Think light and shade. At the moment the only light is the guitar solo, so bring in a middle eight after that.

  • Not sure what the lyrics or chords would be (it's your song mate, I'm just making suggestions), but it'd make the song feel more complete. As it is, it works very well, but there's always going to be more that can be done - you should have seen how many times it took to get me guitar solo down for House of the Rising Sun; I swear chairs were about to go flying... :-)
