@kellykinsel if you don't like it, why do you insist on watching it?
this was awesome, tho i enjoyed the Outside Broadcast leg of the ZooTV tour more. much more for the senses to endure. U2 always gives theirs fans their money's worth.
@kellykinsel apparently Die Hard U2 fans like myself actually enjoyed this last album. and i'm usually partial to everything up to Zooropa. wasn't too keen on Pop-All You Can't Leave Behind. definitely seeing a "return to form" since How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (as well as the current release...)
There are a couple of good songs off the new album, I will admit that. But overall more crap than good. And for a 5 year long effort to make this album it was pathetic. Also, their live performances are worse. Bono screws up all the lyrics and those fucking long political lectures are unbearable especially coming from this phony tax cheater. hell they do the samething on every tour now. A stupid circle around the stage, acoustic set, alwasy end with WOW and one. Same shit different tour
Do you know that in the website of the french fan of U2 a poll (souding) show that they put the last album at the top 3 of the best album of U2 just after the fisrt Achtung Baby and the second The Joshua Tree ? Most of public say that "All that you can't leave behind" is a very good album ... it's wrong and another souding show that the french fans hate it, and i hate it. People have to wash their ears.
Most of the hard fans HATE "All that you can't leave behin" (except Beautiful day, Walk on, and Kite and eventually Elevation) and most of them don't love so mucj "How to dismantle an atomic bomb"... and i give them reason at all ! The last album, the hard fan put it at the top 3 or top 4, it's very good album, but it's true that it's less esay listening music ... so it's logical that the people not fan have more difficulty to listen the last album ... but it's an album of high quality !
as i mentioned, i wasn't a huge fan of albums like Pop and All That You Can't Leave Behind (which is the bulk of the material they performed along with a few older staples...). i wasn't also impressed with the lead single off the latest album either. it seemed very much a throw-away song. upon listening to the album tho, i liked it. and yes, for what they released and the time period between albums. it's their "chinese democracy" i guess
Amazing. Unknown Caller is one of my favourites from the new album and this is a great performance of it. Edge's guitar solo gives me goosebumps every time. :)
The first time I heard this song was at the rose bowl in CA. There is something to be said about 98k people singing along ( which was not clearly evadent in the video). This song was performed as well as 40 was done 20 years ago. 40 was a closing song at the end of the show for the Joshua Tree tour. People sang it for 15 minutes after U2 left the stage. Very cool and another meaningful experience for my wife and I.
Love this song. No Line On The Horizon - their best album since Zooropa. Bit like Zooropa in that it's intimate, non commercial and for us hardcore fans almost exclusively it feels!
great point you make i totally agree with you yes this is one of the best u2 albums i love all of the songs but i loveee magnificent cedars of labonon unkown caller breathe.. very intimate indeed i just dont understand why it didnt sell very well oh well u2 sell out staduims they are the best!!!! in so many ways
love bono going to see them july 2010 in toronto GA!!!! reply if you want
Well, it makes it more special for us to know that we have a gem, rather than those who just buy U2 for songs like Vertigo, With Or Without You or none.
It's a guy called Terry Lawles, he plays the piano when Edge can't (at the same time, like i New Years Day, the guitar/piano is in different parts, so Edge can play both there) :)
la mejor banda del mundo,y miralos en vivo es algo imprecionante.....estuve en pasadena y los estoy esperando para anaheim............mucho tiempo mas(U2)...
It is unbelievable that with almost 100.000 in the stadium Bono sings praticaly alone. Why don't people sing along with him? Hard to know. That's why they get so excited when they play in South America and Italy.
?? Of course they did - Americans are amongst the loudest in the world - the microphones however wouldn't pick it up since it was being professionally recorded...
The type of microphone used is called a dynamic and is designed only to pick up the vocalist directly in front of it....compared to say a condenser mic which would be on the audience so you get some atmosphere. Otherwise it would just be bono and the band.
It wasn't that man. I was there and I am the biggest U2 fan there ever could be and I was screaming my head of the whole concert and the place was dead. I was disappointed. Europe is a much better place to go to for a U2 concert.
Not historically dude- I mean, Europe's always been more conservative than America is in terms of letting themselves go... that's why jazz, and rock, and hip-hop could never have come out of Europe... Just watch Janis here on youtube lol:
Good point. Being born and having grown up in North America but having European parents, I've come up with this unscientific explanation. Once a North American pays for something, in this case a concert ticket, they expect to have the entertainer perform FOR them. In Europe and South America, where the people are either more evolved or poorer, the people there don't have the time for the shallow North American way of life, and expect to have the entertainer perform WITH them.
I was fortunate to be at the concert that night. Prior to the concert, Magnificent was my favorite track, but after seeing this song performed live with a chorus of voices it became my fav. What a night! Nothing short of spectacular! U2 is the best band in the world!
This is sooooooooooooo amazing... At first, when No line came out, I didn't really like this song that much. But when I first heard this live... oh God.. it's about my favourite together with Breathe and No line on the horizon now. There is really something special about this song.
My 3 year old son knows all the words and sings this song at least 5 times a day, while dancing in circles around my living room! First song he know after the ABC song.
this is my fav song in the whole concert so uplifiting im telling you great song.I just dont understand why this cd didnt sell very well lady gaga?? Taylor?? Riahnna?? all CRAP!! manufactured crap so predicable u2 gives us hope and passion im seeing them in toronto july the 3rd toronto fans better wise up and get into there music dam! Love them
cant wait for the dvd to come out from the rose bowl
It's unfortunate, The Edge has an excellent voice; Bono in my opinion should stand aside once a while (like on "Zooropa"'s "Numb") and let him take the lead.
the audience is still...for a great song...how would they deal with U2 at its best? street mission, until the end of the world, 2 hearts, blinding lights...i think this band should start doing small club shows for people who care.
I think I see my face on the HUGE 360 video screen... I submitted a video for their request for Chorus of Voices. :) Saw them in Tampa, they are the best band ever BRILLIANT.
SHOUT FOR JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! RESPECT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ranks amongst one of the most underrated tracks off the new album, next to "White As Snow" and "Moment of Surrender".
Bono's voice really drifted off towards the end of the concert - age is taking it's toll, and so are the countless back-to-back tours across Europe and America.
Give yourself a week or two Bono between concerts.
I was at the rose bowl on the floor and the singalong to Unknown Caller was definitely the highlight of the show for me and everyone around me. Incredible moment.
I like how it starts.... Between the midnight and the dawning. Yeah... I've felt that way soooo many times. That's why I can relate to U2. They always tell me something about my feelings thru their music.... This song is like a cry to GOD.
The chorus of voices and video intro are the product of their fanclub drive for kareoki fan vids.
Altho i had trouble getting my rendition downloaded (not a techie);i'm still impressed by how much this band goes out of their way to get their fans intimately involved.
Well for me and 55% of the fan of U2achtung the best album of U2 is Achtung Baby. For the other 45% it's The Joshua Tree. Miami is the U2 song I hate the most but it couldn't be further from U2's style of music or any of their songs. Miami was an experiment gone wrong....very wrong. Even on Pop, which is not one of the better U2 albums IMHO, Miami stands out as the worst song. If someone honestly thinks Miami represents U2, then there is no way that they have listened to any U2 songs other than Miami.......
I like experimental as in Zoostation, The Fly, So Cruel, Some Days are Better Than Others or Do you Fell Loved but not Mofo, Zooropa or Miami....I hate Miami. My least favorite U2 song is actually Wake-Up Dead Man. Yes, it would appear I dont like POP, but I actually like a few songs off of it, just the ones that I dont like, I really hate. Different tastes I suppose.....
I can see myself on the Chrous of Voices :) Very proud! Would be great to maybe have a special feature on the dvd of that visual, so we can all get a good look at our selves :)
wow, kellsterama seems to have a post after many of their songs. Medication issues?

Even on Pop, which is not one of the better U2 albums IMHO, Miami stands out as the worst song. If someone honestly thinks Miami represents U2, then there is no way that they have listened to any U2 songs other than Miami.......

What're you talkin' about?! Miami is awesome! In addition to Zooropa, Please, MOFO!, and other such experimental, awesome awesome, songs :D
