They don't have light colored eyes, brown or blonde hair, etc... because they are more indigenous Asian. They don't speak Spanish, nor do they eat Latino foods. Filipinos are Pacific Islanders, in the Pacific Asian region. But true Asians don't acknowledge them as Asians, and the only thing in common with Hispanics is that at one time the Spaniards mixed with filipino natives too - at one point (long ago). A total unrelated and unconnected coniencidence. So their is NO connection between the two at all.

We are a MIX of Native Indian, African, European(Spain specifically along with Italy, France & Portugal) & sometimes Asian. We have this running through our veins as we look like our ancestors. Filipinos have hardly any Spanish or similarities to us. Food, music, language is different. They are their own people.

@manuelitogm I'm not going to argue with you. Some may have Spanish last names but hardly any are of Spanish blood. They are Asian. I live in San Francisco, and many Filipinos consider themselves Asian and not once have I heard any say that they are Latino because they are NOT. Most Filipinos I've met have been mean towards Latinos. Anyway, they are more Chinese if anything. Mexicans, Cubanos, P Ricans, Argentines, Colombians, Peruvians, Dominicans, etc. are Latinos.

@manuelitogm No that's incorrect and not true. Less than 3% of Filipinos in the Philippines have European blood (meaning Spanish, etc.) out of 91 Million Filipinos. That means only about 3 Million have any European blood in them. That's why most Filipinos look Asian and not Latino. They don't have light colored eyes, brown or blonde hair, etc... because they are more indigenous Asian. They don't speak Spanish, nor do they eat Latino foods. Their country is near all the other Asian countries.

Yes @ oscguz, Philippines is the only country in Asia that has similarities to Mexican history and culture (my religion is catholic and my last name is Fernandez), remember the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade (Old school barter system, a Filipino-Mexican thing). BTW, my fave Mexican telenovela was Lazos de Amor (Maria Paola, Maria Guadalupe and Maria Fernanda) ;D

As a Mexican, I would date Filipinos too. Out of all the Asian groups, I believe that we are more similar to the Philippines. For historical and cultural reasons. Which is why Filipinos have a lot of Spanish last name.
