One of my favorite songs of all time. I remember having problems with my girl in high school- I must of played this a THOUSAND times. Oh man, NO RAP- just REAL musicians who could actually sing, play, harmonize, were master of their instruments and craft. A LOST era. His voice always reminds of the guy/band that sang the classic, "Brandy". A+ Dave Mason- a master singer/song writer for sure.
He blessed us here in Hollister CA by doing a concert for us last summer. Just a small intimate crowd on a nice warm northern Cali night enjoying his great music.
I was a stagehand in Virginia Beach, Va & I was working the American Music Fest. Dave was one of the many acts performing. I was behind the stage talking 2 his drummer when Dave walked over just chillin' out. I asked Dave 4 the sake of trivia and to settle debates I've had over the song "Feelin' alright" . I said Now Feelin Alright is you song! He said "Right". I asked "Who did the 1st remake of the song? GFR or Joe Cocker? (I already knew) He said "Joe baby did it!" I said "I knew it!"
one of the really great songs of the mid 70s, love, love, love, it i think it was actually one of my very favorite ones, it does take you back. only if i could go back and know what i know today. all my best. thanks for getting this one on.
Cheers to Dave Mason and all the great singer songwriters of the 70's. It was a special era of music. The cool thing is we even knew it when it was happening and music has not been quite the same since....
I met Dave Mason when he appeared at the arena where I worked as an advertising/publicity specialist in 1977. I did the advertising campaign to promo his appearance. Great guy! I became an instant fan. Great memories! Saw him again in Dallas about 10 years ago--boy he sure looked different, but was just as talented as ever! Thanks for posting.
I saw him and Elvin Bishop come in by helicopter at The Frog Jump @ Angels Camp, just outside of Sonora,California,The year was 1974,Unbelievable show...Still the best outdoor show I have seen, total meltdown had by all!
Saw Dave Mason in Vegas around 80/81 or so....he opended for Starship,
it was just Dave an one other guy, they had a few acoustic guitars and a banjo....in Vegas...opening for Starship...and Dave killed them...brought down the house....remains one of the coolest shows I have ever seen....
I saw Dave Mason back in 1980 with some other guy.....probably the same tour that you saw! I saw them play in a small bar in Sun Valley, Idaho - maybe 25 people in the bar. They played acoustic guitars while sitting on top of a table.
I think you are right. I think I remember Dave introducing him as his partner Jim during that show...........but that was almost 30 years ago - those memories are fading fast.
Dave did some acoustic shows with the late Jim Kreuger. Some of the music is here on you tube. Jim wrote this song along with another great song "The Words" among others.
@pierangler saw him with Jim Krueger the same tour, playing a small place on Siesta Key in Florida. Might have been about 30 of us almost in a living room setting. Fabulous evening.
In 1977 i just got divorced and met a guy, and at that time i was still missing my ex-husband, and when the new guy and i went out to eat i heard this song for the first time and cried my eyes out. needless to say we broke up and 25 years later re-married my ex. Dave Mason i must say you do have a way with words. i am so glad i found you again.
This song is pure love
