I think you have a new genre here, Geoff. Unless we think back to the days of The Stainless Steel Rat. But just imagine having to type "The Stainless Steel Rat" 900 times. No wonder writers went for names like Bal & Kes.

I think "Kallandra" is the right balance of Arizona grit and space cadet. And she's by no means the only engaging character.

It'll never be crossover -- too way-out. But it'll help nail the coffin of skiffies full of clockwork characters. I've MET the people you describe!

Geoff uses sound science as a platform for his story themes. 'Exit' is another of his challenging stories that uses his capacity to go beyond the normal "what if ..." thinking of the everyday, to produce work that deserves to be better known.
