THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WHERE CYDIA IS WHITE AND RETURNS TO HOMEPAGE AFTER YOU CLICK IT.

1. Open up redsn0w

2. Click browse and find the 4.3.1 or the one you used to download and wait for it to say succesfuly identified then click next

3. Uncheck Cydia and select "just boot tethered right now"

4. Then go through that DFU mode thing again (make sure you turn off your ipod)

After that it should have worked as it did for me :) Thumbs up if this helped you!

@txspeck I haven't actually downloaded the firmware file in the description, but if it has only one file in it, extract it, otherwise your browser has renamed it to a zip file, simply rename the file and change the end to ipsw instead of zip.

hide known file type extentions, after uncheking it, go to the zip file (or what ever it is) and change the extention to ".ipsw"
