Made Out of Babies is a band that I recently discovered, along with the talents of Julie Christmas. This song is quite awesome, if you ask me. The vocals fit well with the song's aggressive nature. I'm looking forward to hearing more music by this band.

I think this sort of music is horrible, but unlike MRBLuD, im not going to say that the artists are dumbasses, but neither am i going to agree with Metallophilic, as i find this music disgusting. *Angela (Arch Enemy) is very skilled in terms of guttural growls and roars that add an intensity to an adrenaline rush like sound of their band.
*Otep is very poetic, rhythmical and versatile in vocal range; Also adds elements of fear, realism and personal experiences of trauma into their musical atmosphere.
*Finally, Julie Christmas (Battle of Mice; Made Out of Babies)has screams that add an atmosphere of fear, contradiction, dysfunction & aggression.

No I'm 31 and have been listening to metal for quite awhile now and am able to form my own opinions of what I like in music.Not all of OTEP is good metal, but that's how it goes.Pantera started out as an 80's butt-metal band.Some of Machinehead's stuff is nu-metalish but then some of their stuff is solid.And almost all metal has dumbass growling in it and the lyrics are the least of what I pay attention to.You're acting like a 12 y/o who can't stand when others disagree with him.
Growling is not "dumbass", Its simply a different technique of using your throat muscle as a musical/instrumental means, and like everyone has different voices, there are different sounds and qualities of growling. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it's ignorant in itself to degrade the technique itself. It is in no way an unintellegent thing. And if you think that most metal has "dumbass" growling, and aren't paying enough attention to the lyrics, then clearly you're missing the point.
and the unique and artistic value lyrical music has is its ability to fuse together the literary art with the art of sound, so if you're not paying much attention to the lyrics then you're carrying out a half-arsed-listening, and probably why you aren't getting the most of it, thus, judging it poorly. Maybe you should do more researching if you want to critique publically about something you don't seem to have thorough knowledge on.

Why put this "video" on youtube? It's getting pretty old to find something you think is a music video, only to find out that it's a static picture of the band with the music playing. I can play the music on my Zune and look at a poster and get the same thing, way to take up fucking web space.
The whole point is to get it up for people who haven't heard the band before, and you can send it to them via link, the video itself, or youtube's send feature.
Otep's House of Secrets is a million times more metal than this shit. And you are on crack if you think Arch Enemy is mainstream and pop. And Otep growls much deeper and louder than Julie Christmas.
As someone who has listened to all of these bands I think I can honestly say that none of them are better than the other...
They all have qualities unique to them that many may not be able to comprehend or understand without much consideration and musical experience (meaning much listening to all varieties of music ^^)
Just because it is a different sort of metal, you can't disregard it entirely as "not metal". metal is large enough that it consists of millions of subgenres. It all still maintains its certain characteristics, or have its roots, so its very ignorant of you to try to generalize and truncate music genres just because it doesn't fit the generalization. Its called Nu Metal and Melodic Death Metal. Just because something has a running melody, doens't make it poppy.
...or you know, music is a lot more important in my life than yours. and maybe I'm just sick of people arguing out of ignorance about the things they don't seem to give a shit about.

Yeah I had to research to make sure it wasn't the same vocalist. I 1st heard of this band on Hard Attack, and I was like "WTF" at the name lol (same with Wrestled a Bear Once)... I think they kick ass.
Easily one of the best CDs of the year so far. Her voice is always amazing, and the band is even better this time around, touching on a nice Jesus Lizard/Melvins vibe at times.
Who gives a fuck what genre they are, seriously who cares this is just a pretty good song.

And to DevilDoc: For a 31 year old, I would expect much more maturity and respect towards others yet it seems you don't like it when others disagree with you, which sounds much more "childlike" in my opinion...
I suggest you "grow up" and leave people who were not involved with this conversation alone. Whether it's Goths, (Pre)Teens, Video Gamers...They are all regular people, like you and I, and deserve respect not your intolerant and degrading attitude.

Lastly, whether you look up titles of genre on wiki, or the internet in general...None of them will ever precisely and lastingly fit either of these bands entirely because they all draw influences from variation(s) of other genre's and then blend it into their personal own sound with their perspectives and genuineness.
So none of them are even remotely just "metal" nor "rock" nor "pop". If we are to use titles, I suggest their original band names rather than genre's. ^_^

*Angela (Arch Enemy) is very skilled in terms of guttural growls and roars that add an intensity to an adrenaline rush like sound of their band.
*Otep is very poetic, rhythmical and versatile in vocal range; Also adds elements of fear, realism and personal experiences of trauma into their musical atmosphere.
*Finally, Julie Christmas (Battle of Mice; Made Out of Babies)has screams that add an atmosphere of fear, contradiction, dysfunction & aggression.

No I'm 31 and have been listening to metal for quite awhile now and am able to form my own opinions of what I like in music.Not all of OTEP is good metal, but that's how it goes.Pantera started out as an 80's butt-metal band.Some of Machinehead's stuff is nu-metalish but then some of their stuff is solid.And almost all metal has dumbass growling in it and the lyrics are the least of what I pay attention to.You're acting like a 12 y/o who can't stand when others disagree with him.

Growling is not "dumbass", Its simply a different technique of using your throat muscle as a musical/instrumental means, and like everyone has different voices, there are different sounds and qualities of growling. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it's ignorant in itself to degrade the technique itself. It is in no way an unintellegent thing. And if you think that most metal has "dumbass" growling, and aren't paying enough attention to the lyrics, then clearly you're missing the point.

and the unique and artistic value lyrical music has is its ability to fuse together the literary art with the art of sound, so if you're not paying much attention to the lyrics then you're carrying out a half-arsed-listening, and probably why you aren't getting the most of it, thus, judging it poorly. Maybe you should do more researching if you want to critique publically about something you don't seem to have thorough knowledge on.

Incredible band, great vocalist as no one can growl or sing like Julie Christmas, but...
Why put this "video" on youtube? It's getting pretty old to find something you think is a music video, only to find out that it's a static picture of the band with the music playing. I can play the music on my Zune and look at a poster and get the same thing, way to take up fucking web space.

As someone who has listened to all of these bands I think I can honestly say that none of them are better than the other...
They all have qualities unique to them that many may not be able to comprehend or understand without much consideration and musical experience (meaning much listening to all varieties of music ^^)

Just because it is a different sort of metal, you can't disregard it entirely as "not metal". metal is large enough that it consists of millions of subgenres. It all still maintains its certain characteristics, or have its roots, so its very ignorant of you to try to generalize and truncate music genres just because it doesn't fit the generalization. Its called Nu Metal and Melodic Death Metal. Just because something has a running melody, doens't make it poppy.
