@yummysevin if you have an 8 GB iphone or ipod touch then its not really best to jailbreak it break it. If your an older gen iphone or ipod touch due to the fact they dont have much memory. It will work fine but some tweeks that was not designed for your device are probably what slowed it down. The same happened to my sister. She has the iphone 3gs 8GB and she tried to install way too much stuff and it slowed her device down.

@yummysevin also it never hurts to do it cuz if for any reason it does make your device slow down just simply restore and its good as new. So there is no risk at all.

@IpodTouchFrenzy Yes there is. I had the same problem and when i tryed to do downgrade i could't find the right file on internet anymore. I had tomtom working properly, video recording....so if you have 3G don't do it!!!! one of the stupid things i ever done.

@austinpodann once you use greenpoision to jailbreak. A new app called the loader app should be installed. From there you will install cydia and once in stalled run cydia for the first time. It will initialize then close. Once you open cydia for the second time it will load normally and you can begin installing new features that Apple does not give you.

Can I just clarify - my phone is stuck on the emergency calls/itunes screen. Does this mean that it's locked to a certain providers network or that it needs jailbreaking? Most of the videos I've seen show an operational iPhone with the menu being accessible but I can't even get to that. Also - when I try to download firmware from itunes, it's been giving me an error message and saying that it is unable to update.

well if u lost then your warranty wont matter anyway lol and if you jailbreak your device u can always reset your device back to orginal factory settings if you ever need to return it for whatever reason and besides i had returned an ipod touch that was jailbroken and i used my warranty to get another one and they did it. so its not really going to affect u at all

@Jaybo1594 there are alternate programs to put songs on your ipod besides itunes but most cost money. If your device is jailbroken you can use WINSCP to access your files and manually put songs on it.

@CapnJ1mmy well first off blackrain cant be used by any firmware. so obviously u tried to use blackrain with another firmware other then 3.1.2 and secondly if u read the begining says to use spirit instead of blackrain because its better and unteathered. and it requires 3.1.3 firmware. i am not responsible for ur ipod. just for the record i use black rain and i have no problems with it

@MJfan4everlife no worries my friend. any computer is capable of recieving a virus but i seriously doubt u have anything to worry about with an ipod touch. just know where ur downloads are coming from and if something seems strange or a file seems really small for like say a song and its only 14KB u know its not right cuz songs are roughly 3MB or so. so just know what ur getting where it comes from.
