What I like the most in this exhibition is not only the great ability of all 3 players (this is so obvious!), but the interaction between them. I find that really incredible. Most of all Jeff Bullard is able to follow even the great God Chick Corea and he doubles is solo line sometimes!!! I find that absolutely brilliant.
I've crossed paths with Chick a handful of inspiring moments in my life starting back in '94. But on one of those occasions I met Jeff Ballard. We talked gear and before long I discovered he would be playing my home town the following night. He offered me a seat plus one at the Sheldon Concert Hall in Saint Louis, MO. Two 37$ tickets on him. Done. Thanks Jeff. You da man.
k, i've noticed this now on the rendezvous in new york album and now here... i gotta know.. is it just me? why is avishai's pitch so damn rank while being SO incredibly technically superior?
Ya, after watching this got into hand drumming and REAL percussion stuff, not just drum set , but using everything from rims to bells! Jeff has got an internal fire!!
I saw Jeff in 1993 in Montreal playing with the John Stetch quartet. During the break... My friend and I chated with Jeff , smoked some herb... he invited me to sit next to the stage so I could see better... he played the SICKEST 15 minute drum solo I have ever heard. an absolute life changing experience. After watching Jeff's creativity with a little 4 piece house kit, I later went home, stripped my 22 piece kit to just 4 pieces, been playing like that ever since. The guy is a fucking MONSTER.
Jeff is definitely one of those unique musicians who pulls sounds out of a kit that you didn't know existed. He'll make a 4-piece sound like a 22-piece. AMAZING.
This is just too good!

Genius like Chick Corea is born only once. Brilliant! No one knows who is sicker between the three ('sick' - in a positive sense, of course). :)

The looks exchanged between Jeff and Avishai at 3:33 ... crack me up because Mr. Cohen is in the midst of a whack technical line when it happens.

LOL I have a friend that every time he plays the piano he opens his mouth and his tongue gets out, he doesn't even notice it.
I guess Jeff has the same problem, and Avishai just motioned him to get his tongue back into his mouth.
