Its crazy that he didn't even like to paint nor did he consider himself a painter. Painting was just a way to make money; he always considered himself an engineer. He needs to learn how to paint babys though. Most renaissance painters didn't understand that a babys face lies in the lower 1/3 of their head as apposed to an adults face.

Ehm... he knew how to paint babies. Babies (and the world in general) was simply percieved differently by people in that time. It's for the same reason that they didn't apply point-perspective before the renaissance, it just didn't apply.

Even better, Leonardo is by far the most diverse genius humanity has ever encountered so far. As for him being more accomplished in science we will never know, you have to remember Leonardo existed hundreds of years before Tesla. I wouldn't say he could "never be better than him".
