I have listened to this several times today, trying to find a way to describe what struck me most about it. In the opening, I hear two things going on at once on the guitar. The high register seems to express the anxiety, fear, anger of a time of war and the low register is almost dirge-like. Very effective. The transition that follows takes a more hopeful tone, like a prayer that we learn not to follow this path again. It's like the history of an anti-war movement.
