incredible work Joe.Just got thru seeing pictures today in Mansfield that were taken during the Barnstorm days...saw you playing some mean congas during the James Gang reunion at Blossom and Roller Coaster Weekend is still one of my favorite LP's !! as soon as i get some $, gonna order your book and the latest CD...keep playing and Ohio will keep listening !!
I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but Joe's drums always stuck out to me on the Joe Walsh albums on songs like 'County Fair' - really innovative lines. I even have his album on vinyl somewhere (can't remember what it's called but it has a rollercoaster on the front).
Agree w/jazzermonk. Nothin' flashy like he's doing here (which btw, was badazz) but man, that track is the bomb! Used to sit down w/the headphones on and do my best to imitate his style, and as BelleFourche says here - fail miserably.
Joe your drumming has always been a perfect complement to JW's music over the yrs. Been a big fan of both for a long while. Keep kickin' it...
Joe, you are a great drummer. Your work on the Barnstorm and Joe Walsh's solo albums and on John Entwistle's Too Late the Hero is phenomenal. You also play keyboards and flute real good as well. The live version of "Turn to Stone" you did with Joe and when you were touring with The Eagles in 1979/80 was incredible. Why The Eagles didn't want you back for their reunion tours are a sacrilege. I also am multi-instrumentalist drummer, keyboard player and guitarist. God bless you!
Vitale's brilliance comes through much better in his tracks. The nuances he puts into Life's Been Good & Life of Illusion are still inimitable, and many try and fail miserably (like Don Henley). So underrated.
