My collection of keyboards is growing. Back in the day, I used rubber-dome keyboards. My old IBM Aptiva came with a halfway decent one that still works. I got a Razer Tarantula, but it was a huge disappointment, since a few of the keys took ridiculous pressure to actuate. Now, I've got a Unicomp Customizer 104 and an original Model M I got off eBay, along with a LASER SX-25 that barely functions (but feels great). Since I liked the feel of the SX-25, I'm now very interested in Cherry MX Blues.
I got a LASER SX-25 off eBay to test out the round SMK keyswitches, but it occasionally prints double characters from some keys, so the switches must be worn out or oxidized or something. Worked okay for a 30-year-old keyboard, though. I plan on perhaps buying another one and cannibalizing it for parts, assembling the working keyswitches from both into a single frankenboard. They're PCB-mounted, so I'd need to get out the soldering iron.
this keyboard is good but i recommend cherry G80 more. It has the same switches. Das high gloss surface is very sensitive to dust, oil, scratches. Also it has ps2 and that's a plus for me.
@patrickgetsontube yea i actually have both. das was dust and oily after 2 days and i had to clean it constantley. as for the feeling goes, it's the same as it has same switches. also it has ps2 and thats good for me beacouse for some odd reson my usb devices lots of time need repluging and stuff like that. they don't make em anymore i think. mines from 1992.
Do you have the Das 3 or the Model S? Personally, I can feel a difference between the plate-mounted switches (Das) and the PCB-mounted (G80). I prefer the former, but the latter is also nice. I rotate my keyboards depending on my mood :-)

I seriously like the sound of these keyboards. It's actually quite relaxing.

The only way I can actually look like I'm typing for a video is if I'm actually typing something instead of mashing a bunch of keys around.
lol idiot.

I just ordered this baby. If I like it, I'll probably get a Filco next.

The G80 is a good one too, but harder to find in North America. I don't know if they are still available in North America for that matter.

I notice it sounds differently from video to video because of the quality. I sure hope it sounds like this though.

it sounds about like this.

The article the link points to says: "Modeled after the classic IBM model M, the Das Keyboard employs mechanical gold-plated key switches..."
This is not exactly true. The Model M uses buckling spring technology whereas the Das uses Cherry MX Blue key switches.
