@ShadowxMaker I know. But cartridges are made FAR differently than those chips (if you mean SD cards) and it was expensive to make a 64 megabyte cartridge.
we have a amazing fact for anyone. others will be able to acquire this game for zero cost at "ps3bigskydownload" - just open google and enter "ps3bigskydownload". simply click the first link and you will be there. have high hopes anyone enjoy it.
You clearly said the game had NO FMV. I told you that was wrong. Because it does have every FMV except for one.
Now you're saying the game doesn't have the FMV intro. If you're talking about the intro where Leon or Claire make their way through Raccoon City, well that intro is included in the N64 version.
Several, actually, though all cuts are relatively minor.
1. The demo here originally came in two versions, one for each disc. They were cut together to one scene for the N64.
2. The short Leon/Claire appearances from the beginning of the helicopter crash FMV were removed to create one uniform scene for both scenarios.
3. "Annette's Recollection" originally had two versions, since, depending on the scenario played, either Claire or Ada meet Annette and ask her about her husband.
The N64 port only has the Claire FMV (you don't see her, but she has one line - so it's a small error in the Leon scenario, as it's always Claire's and not Ada's voice).
4. The original had two staff credits FMVs, each featuring different music, a symphonic ("Credit Line") and a rock track ("Credit Line Of Whole Staff"). The latter showed scenes from the game. The N64 credits only have the symphonic track as sequenced music and are not prerendered, but "in-game text". The rock track was cut.
This was one of the first games for the N64 to sport FMV.. or full motion video. PS1 games had lots of cool cut scenes due to the disc while the N64 depended on the cartridge.
If you mean bringing RE3 to N64 is easier than bringing it to the GC, that's not true because GC is much easier to develop for, the discs cost less, and GC discs have far more space than even a 64MB N64 cartridge.
If you mean using a 64MB cartridge for an N64 version of RE3 would be better than using a 32MB cartridge, then I completely agree with you. I mean, that's one reason why the quality of the N64 version of RE2 is so good.
No, i did not mean the first statement, i meant something like the the second one,
and it would have been more easy to move a one disc based game onto a 64MB N64 cartridge ( i am not saying they should have moved it to the n64 instead of the GC, im just saying, more like I THINK it would be easier to move it onto a 64MB cartridge since on psone it was a single disc game, unlike RE2 of PSone)
@topkid1988 Had a dream that my local blockbuster had a value bin of N64 games (even tho it was 2009 when I had said dream) and there was a N64 cart of RE3 with the art being nemesis holding Brad with the tentacle. Then it ended...
I bet Square at the time felt shamed if they saw what was REALLY possible on the N64. Sure FFVII probably would've retailed for about 70 dollars, but Capcom's move show's how much better it could have been.

@SomeFluffer64 You do know that they make chips way smaller than a disc that can hold 16gb....
2 Standard cd roms are just 1400mb total... on the ps1.

WTF? i have that game for n64 but there are no FMV!
Josman13 3 years ago
Then you DON'T have that game.
Because the N64 game DOES have all the FMV's, except for one which Angel Studios (the dev that made the game for N64) could not fit in the cartridge.
angryaztec 3 years ago 4
that's what i'm talking about! no videos!
Josman13 3 years ago
The videos are the FMV's numbnuts.
FMV means=FULL MOTION VIDEOS.
The N64 game has every video except for one. And that's a fact.
angryaztec 3 years ago
wtf? i know fmv = videos! i thought that you didn't understand! the intro movie of resident evil 2 does not appears in the n64 version

Resident evil 2 was, and it was on PSX also. im not sure about the other ones though D:
i think Resident evil 3 was on N64 and PSX also
topkid1988 3 years ago
You're half incorrect topkid1988. The only Resident Evil game N64 has is Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 3 is for PSX and GameCube.
MegaMan52 2 years ago
hmm..
wouldnt it be awesome if they could have resident evil 3 on the N64?
topkid1988 2 years ago 16
Sure, as long as Capcom used the same compression techniques as Resident Evil 2 for the FMV's and voices to get them all in.
MegaMan52 2 years ago 4
@megaman52
True, but it would have been more easier to move RE3 to a 64MB cartridge since the game itself was 1 disc

i wonder why the N64 can't play FMV or CGI videos
marko2354 4 years ago
Because cartridge space is very limited compared to CDs
MetalliCopper 4 years ago
Yes, the cartidge space is very limited compared to CDs and DVDs, but they lack the loading time in some games.
RazorCallahanNFSPS 4 years ago
They can, as proved by this game.
They just need memory space. Most GBA/DS carts hold much more than what N64s could back then, and also have superior compression technology.
