First time I listened to this all the way through--it blew my mind!! I believe they were the first rap group to include a lyric sheet in their albums. PE helped usher in a new era of hip hop! Their stuff was always of epic proportions. Nobody's image, style, message was tighter--PE was and still is an institution.
I would not call 1988 the golden era of hip hop... seriously sugar hill gang and beatie boys are where its at. PE is sick as fuck but not as good as the original MCs
@PocketFire You outta YO DAMN MIND! check the lyrics--check the cuts! ("Terminator X to the Edge of Panic", for instance) Sugar Hill Gang (1979) and Beastie Boys (1986) are from two completely different timeframes.

@Mikkimuse that dude obviously did listen to PE,eric b n rakim, epmd, eazy e,nwa, schooly d,big daddy kane, the list "is goin on and on thats crackin the wack explainin that y'alll for the actual facts!"
Holy Crap! This one blasted me back to school memories getting banned from the common area for a day with a buddy for being "too controversial" - not only by the teachers, but even fellow students. Epic lyrics!
Sounds of war drums (bass), versatility in "warfare" (snares) and the ever embedding siren sounds suggesting their longevity to whoever is listening to their sounds till today!
@oomz1975 old skool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pukka tune the rebel chuck all day long son all day long i remember i lived it!!!!!!!!!!! music today is shit be underground or commercial .........suckers don't last a minute lolololololollooooollllloololol the voice of power is in the house GO TAKE A SHOWER BOY lol oh yes london loves it !!!!
Never appreciated the genius of PE at the time fast foward about 22 years later this shit still grabs you by the throat like it did in 1988. Bring back the golden era of Hip Hop

I've been wanting to make a mix of songs to give to people that say rap is "talentless" and "just a bunch of talking".
This would probably be on said mix.
