Some people seem to think racing requires power alone, that is only one faucet of a race. If you want to drag race, pick the audi, if you want to win a real race, with corners, the audi will lose or end up inside of a wall.
The RX-8 is just awesome... It has perfect 50/50 weight distribution and enough power to be a sports car... AND it's a little 4 door saloon! and on top of all that it looks WONDERFULL!!! what more do you want?
Yes for corners the TQ is most important. A rotary has no TQ. A S3 would deft beat a rx8 in just about anything really. Circut, drag, offroad, etc. If you find someone who can stay in the high Rpms with the rotary it'd be close on a coarse but again TQ wins races. I love both cars tho not tryin to hate

Now about the Audi... front wheel cars are for commuting and all wheel drive for offroading. I have no idea what this Audi is but if I had to decide it will be the rear wheel.
True,, but when Mazda won it, their rotary engine was banned the following year. So, it would be interesting if they finally allow Mazda 787B to come back, maybe can win or give Audi a good run of its money. ;)
@Devillemaniac circuit and straight line racing are different.. RX-8 literally sucks at straight line due to its low torque which is SOMETHING important. lastly audi s3 would still beat it in curcuit. my opinion is, this challenge rx-8 and rs-3 is unfair. there is a big price difference (rs3 costs 2 rx-8s). btw yes everybody is able to put the pedal to the metal along a straight line. so comparing becomes clearer with less driver effect. definitely in every aspect s3 is way better than rx-8

rx8's are better in cornering and I think thats the most important thing on a circuit....
@Devillemaniac s3 has some systems rx-8 doesn't have for cornering.bhp and torque are both higher AND s3 creates max torque like 4500 rpm. problem is in circuit there are no long straight line and accelaration decides most of things(so torque decides). which audi will excel. but I still find you right about racing mazda rx-8 with audi s3 on a drag race. different cars with different motors. a kid in s3 will beat michael schumacher in rx-8.. so what does this prove anyway?

Interesting point. well, different cars suit different drivers. I am not saying RX8 is the best as S3 with its quattro does have its merits. But, there are many factors to consider when racing on a track or circuit. It is certainly interesting to find out if possible. Having said that, RX8 certainly wins in the looks department when compare to S3. Honestly, pardon me for saying this, S3 looks ugly. A Scirocco looks so much better. Just my opinion.
