  • The real charm of Degen appears when listening it with phones, the best sound obrained from any portable I've ever heard. Additionaly, quite good for dx-ing, let alone its amazung sensibility for that price. Sangean is of course better, but this does not hold water for the quality/price comparison. As for tecsun, they should be called TESCUN for the quality offered.

  • Which one is better on short Waves?

  • Both Degen and Sangean are very good radios..Tecsun is not that good. but it all depends on your budget .

  • Did you have the telescopic antenna fully extended? I don't think I saw the 1103 signal strength meter move once? For some reason you tuned 88.32Mhz? Those are very weak stations.

My DE1103 is one of the best radios I have ever had. The FM is amazing as is SW and MW (AM BCB).

Also the DE1103 is stereo only with a head-set, since it has a single speaker. This video does no justice to the FM stereo sound quality.

The DE1103 is 1/2 to 1/3rd the price of the Sangean ATS 909.

  • Yes, Degen is #1 by sensitivity.

And Degen don't show a signal strength on FM.

  • Thanks, I forgot. I have a DE1103 right across the room.

With a Sennheiser Pro HD 280 full headset, the stereo on the DE1103 is AMAZING.

I routinely get FM stations in the US with just the telescopic antenna 30-55 statute miles. DX'ing FM stations is not my thing but I have no complaint about the FM, MW or SW sensitivity.

  • Whats the name of the song at 2:13 and 2:26? I like it:D

  • The Tecsun seems to be the least sensitive and worst sounding of the three radios. Would you recommend it, though?

  • Yes, especially for difficult conditions with many close stations.

Just to double the antenna length.

  • Thank you very much!
