Way back when Robbie made the successful jump over the fountains I was in the garage behind the farthest bales to the right just in case he followed in his fathers footsteps. Being a Paramedic in Vegas has its advantages. Fortunately he made a great jump and I had the best seat in the house looking straight down the ramp.
@sethy2004 He would have had one of the best paramedics in Las Vegas on him. That is how i Earned the spot. And my post would have been a lot more graphic.
ROBBIE MADISON On his second attempt he broke the world record by traveling 342 feet 7 inches (104.42 m) this time he landed hard on his back tire and was not satisfied by the jump, so he decided to jump once more. On his third jump he again broke the world record, this time with 106.98m (350.98 feet) into a perfect landing.
This is YouTube people, there are plenty of videos of real motorcycle riders on here. WTF are you watching this bitch for? Seth: The Hard Way, faggots!
Nice mullet there Wannabe Knievel. Goes good w/your moustache & greater than thou attitude. You stare death in the face every time you do a dead sailor over some little gap 'cuz you know fuck all about jumping bikes. Your crew calculates where to start from & what gear to hit & you go off like a monkey, 'cuz that's what you are, a monkey. You sound so profound, a true hotshot, "these are the last seconds of my life", yeah if you're a hack who has no fucking clue what he's doing, that's true.
"Felt the motorcycle lose power". Bullcrap. He made Triumph bikes look bad with that statement. He tried to hot dog it with a wheelie, then lost control but recovered, but not enough to get up to speed. He was an idiot. Not a hero.
@M0DEAN Evil made most of his jumps but his crashes were so horrific that they are what's mostly remembered. What's even more surprising is that our parents would let us watch knowing what could happen.. I'll never forget that crash where he crashed through those glass doors...I had nightmare for a week!
Most people think that these people that do all the jumps that Evel did are better havent thought about it.. Evel was using a Big ol' harley... And the new guy are using the lighter dirtbikes
My body aches, when I see Evel's landing, but not as much as when I see Gary Wells get outta shape and slide off just before he pile drives the cement! I think he got sideways off the ramp @ 1:01-1:03 and I'd guess it wasn't the best place for a cross-up. Robbie did a good job shutting it down and clearing those posts, too!!!
And I am friends with Robbie, so of course, I am planning to do a performance with Lynard Skynard soon in honor of him, Lynard Skynard and his father! (Laughs.)
Evel was riding a Triumph. Gary's ramp actually was moved, Robbie would have crashed if his father hadn't insisted he have a safety deck. He fell that short and Enslow and Maddison do not jump like we did. Although they jump higher and farther, their jumps look to easy. There not, but that's what they look like. Ours were thrilling, not boring.
yeah sure, someone moved his ramp at night. this prooves what a amature this dude is, because you should check everything 5 minutes before you try to break your neck.
@kenmackow Dude, as a young boy i worked 5 years for a traveling stuntshow in the 70's called Bossle Helldrivers in germany , and those men did some stunts for jamesbond movies like the 2 wheel drive with the red mustang, and they had a american guy called Bob Duffy who was a champ in jumping cars in those days, so i know what i'm talking about , because i prepared stuntcars every day, and i did move several ramps back and ffw at 2 shows a day, 6 days a week, so who knows more, you or me?
Well, i did checked your site, and now i know that you are a stuntman yourself, so a point and respect for you Btw nice pics. The bikes and costumes look so familiar to me, because we did wear the same "fashion" in those days. Now i stay with my point, because when you leave a ramp over night, you should always check it again before you jump, because there are always idiots who love to see a stuntman crash, and sabotage your equipment, so that's why i call him an amateur.
i dont believe he is a good motorcycle rider like his father and other long distance jumpers, my proof is in his dead sailor, any skilled rider would have tapped the brake and leaned over the front to control the gyro effect of the rear wheel causing him to lose the front of the bike before he landed, he held on, all balls no brains, just knicked it and landed by pure luck
I would like to know if there is a way I could get this on dvd or vhs if someone could let me know please contact me at ladydolfin101@yahoo.com and could you please put attention this is about the dvd you want. Thank you very much.
Robbie should be on a KX500, it's got more power than the Honda. Better yet, he should get himself a Maico 700 MMX, which delivers 82 horsepower, compared with the 65 or so of a CR500, but with a broader and easier-to-control powerband.
Gary Wells was the best he cleared it so easily and got the most air (besides metzger with his huge ramps) He shoulda made it. I beleive ya Gary the ramp was moved.
I doubt anyone one moved his ramp. He over steered then tried to correct it, causing him to miss the ramp. Had he checked the ramps before the jump he would have noticed it was out of place. Lame excuse. And why were there no hay bales in front of that wall? That could have cut down on the amount of injuries.
@FaceInTheRain The concrete wall prevented the unknown wanabee biker from smashing into the building itself. He's glad the wall was there for him to plow into ! BWAAhahaha
The later ones learned from the older ones. Wow Gary Wells was flying and no padding anywhere if he happen to miss. He had nothing but concrete all around to slam into .
Gary didn't keep the bike straight through the jump and why he missed the landing ramp. If you look you can see he has the steering turned slightly to one side.
Yeah, sure, somebody "moved the ramp". Even if that BS was true, if the guy was too much of a dumb shit to check something like that, he deserved what he got.
@crhood2166 Like he didn't check it beforehand. Wells was always an overbearing [expletive]; he'd badmouth Knievel as if Evel had never accomplished anything. I was sadistically satisfied when Wells almost bit the wong that day.
shit, that was intense!! I love what the reporter says when Gary crashed "My god he's not even moving" however the guy said it was hilarious! You figure they would have checked the ramps before doing the stunt.
I think I would have checked the ramp before I jumped. Also , compare the jump of Robbie and Gary , a lot more safety support there for Robbie as far as hay and padding.
What a wuss....he claims someone moved the ramp?!? That's not something he thought was important enough to check before doing the jump? MAJOR BS there!

The technology of motocross bikes was different from 1967 until 1989. By the mid-1970's, technology as Supercross became the top MX brand in the States.
Gary Wells was an underrated jumper. Yes he missed badly at caesar's and his claim of sabotage is a reach. He missed it becuz he didn't take a straight line and hit his TO ramp at an angle. What shocks me is the lack of padding in Wells' landing area. Not a foam pad to be found????? Ah yes, the cockiness of Wells , right down tio his red tuxedo. LONG LIVE GARY WELLS!
Dang Robbie, use a Harley Sportster like your old man did and stop being a sissy! Any retard can make the jump with a custom made Supercross Bike, but jumping with a Cruiser is so much cooler.

Robbie has 16 inches on travel on his suspension! Most of Evel's wipeouts are because the suspension compressed and rebounded the bike into the air.
Too bad he didn't figure that out and modify his own swing arms back in the day.
Glad his son is WAY smarter.
Evel is an awesome American Icon though! Cool Jump Suit!
And the Evel Kneival toy! That was the best toughest toy ever!
