I really don't understand what the so called "controversy" is with this red card. The rules are very simple: if you jump into a tackle with both feet off the ground, it DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU WIN THE BALL or IF YOU DON'T CATCH THE PLAYER. It's still a straight red card. This was underlined by the fact that Kompany appealed and failed. Why the hell did Kompany need to jump with both feet? Why didn't he slide in?
