@weymarie It's a very high end microphone that doesn't pick up background noise. Notice you don't hear the echo of her voice in the stadium either? And you can barely here the fireworks. You can vaguely here the crowd through the announcer's mic at the very end if you turn it up loud enough.

Yes, she has been with the Cuties since she was 4. And they didn't all sing it because this is from Aug '07 and the Cuties arrangement of the Anthem hadn't been created yet. They didn't happen until several months after this.

Madeline was good here back in 2007, but as was said by others, you need to listen to her today with the other members of the Cactus Cuties, they are fantastic. Also listen to how wonderful her voice is in her "O' Holy Night", "Defying Gravity", and many other videos. She just keeps getting better and better, if that is possible. Check out Bullhead003, CactusCutiesBackstge, or CactusCutiesUK for their videos. You will glad you did.

While I can't bring myself to say that this is an awsome performance of the national anthem, I can say this much.

For being only 8 years old she did well, it's very hard to sing solo and accapella and she did a good job with that. In a few years, with some lessons, she'll have a great voice.

My point and case that she did well is when you check 0:42 and skip to 2:39 and realise that she started and ended on the same note (which means she didn't gain or lose pitch).

Keep it up Madeline.
