War Eagle! I loved it! I'm originally from Auburn, I have horses and my dad was a vet many years ago at the Regional Animal Disease Lab. Go vet students!
Fantastic! Very funny, I'm sending the link to everyone. I did notice in the first video, you were not holding "banamine & xzylazine". That paste was actually phenylbutazone. :-)
@graveslr Thanks for spreading the word! By the way, do you know how hard it is to find words that rhyme with "phenylbutazone?" LOL Have a great week!
this is awesome. i showed this to all of my horse crazy friends and i told some of the ppl that i volunteer w/ at ranch. this is just an amazing video thats true about for the most part and its funny. love it!
I probably would have laughed if I hadn't euthanized a horse with a probable large colon torsion last night. The owners are the parents of young children, all of whom rode and showed the horse. Yes, these can survive surgery, but this horse had possibly already ruptured when I arrived, and the client could not afford referral. It was a nice horse and not that old. Right before the holidays.
Sorry to be a downer - if I'd had a different day yesterday, I'd have laughed...
Love it, love it, love it! I am a big fan of ALAC, and one of the things you teach WELL is "bedside" (should we say stall-side?) manner? Good humor and compassion goes a LONG way keeping owners fears in check.
Hope all is well, and posting kudos to Dr. Elizabeth Yorke for her hard work on my horse, The Thrill Seequer, and his lameness issues.
This video is getting thumbs up here at the EQS Dept. at William Woods University. What a clever way to point out the serious ramifications of colic. And as we have learned about the best parodies, they are all grounded in the most serious of subject matter. Kudos to you all, very educational. -LWard
Great video!! (Except the first 'commercial', which maligns coastal bermuda hay, which is not only a very good and nutritious hay, but which is also fed very safely to many many horses in the South) (including my own TBs, and TB x's for many years, along with orchardgrass).
Other than than, great fun, and good to keep folks aware and thinking!
You're getting the point across which is that MOST colic is preventable and MOST colic deaths are preventable with early detection. I have preached this for years! Fantastic job educating people...you guys rock!
This is very creative and sometime in the moment all you can do to stay sane is laugh. I am sure vet school is very hard on animal lovers. So much death...
I have lost two great horses to colic and it was very hard on our entire family. So I can see how some might feel like this is not so funny...
I do not think the students were trying to offend any one or be unkind, after all they are going to school so they can save our horses!
The group was on equine critical care, meaning they had a few breaks while they were not working. Well scripted and a good storyboard helped make the shooting only last about 3 hours.
Lighten up! Many of us have had sick horses, seen dead horses, etc. These kids are just having fun and being extremely creative. They shouldn't have to tiptoe around the realities of being veterinarians just because they "might" offend an overly sensitive person. Being "PC" in this country has gotten ridiculous!

Nice insensitivity. I find the jingles to be tasteless given the seriousness of the illness when clients show up at Auburn with a colicking horse. White wash it all you want.

As a horse owner who lost 2 great horses to colic & held them when they were put down .... and possibly one of your future clients, not all that funny.

So what do these guys do for an encore; Deliver a still born foal?Future Vets, don't ever make colic jokes w/ your clients.
I bet you won't think about this video when you're holding up a client for the first time, who is falling apart when you're about to put down the horse they raised from their mare best mare. When they ask you to cut off a piece of the mane for them, try not to laugh out loud.Bad for business. But aside from that angle, just hilarious.
Love it! This is *so* going to be running through my head (and half the class's head) next time we do anything to do with colic in class. (Just finished a first intro lab on colic).
Just a few spots where I can't make out the words though, can you tell me what it says at 0:21 (All because I fed him some ------), and 1:13 (I just wish I'd known that his intestines ------ ).
Thanks! Had most of the words right --- just missed a couple. (Coastal Bermuda Hay, and that his intestines just might tear for anyone else who's wondering)

Did they have permission from Auburn and from the CVM there to shoot the video in their facility?

Yes, we did. Is there a reason for your concern?

this is amazing! im surprised bob is not in any of the videos since he was up there so much colicking...haha.
ps. when it says no horses were harmed in the filming of this commercial, it should have said no humans were harmed..especially with daisy in it!
