  • My...My ...My... Lord Have Mercy!!!

  • Aretha and Luther were very close. The best person to deliver this healing musical tribute

  • R.I.P luther vandross your ever to be one the best singer in the world!!

  • its so funny to see all these comments about who can sing and whos is better than who.. what bs.. 99.9% of you cant sing a lick.. just relax and enjoy.. stop already.. just stop

  • Fantástico!!!

  • humm ele esta com deus

  • Se non è una struggente dichiarazione di amore questa quale altra potrebbe esserla? Straordinario.

  • beautiful demonstrate of esteem to big artist Vandross!!! bravo

  • Sang Mamma!!! Love Ya

  • Lord how sweet her sound.

  • Her voice is so beautiful and soulful. smh

  • michael saudades para sempre !!!

  • love you Aretha Franklin

  • Aretha helped to usher the spirit of God in that service. I've heard her sing many times, but it had nothing to do with her ability to sing or not. Her spirit was in the right place and that's why the people had to go forth in praise after she was done. Sing on Aretha.

  • Oh dear Lord Jesus, with this godlike voice at my funeral.....i would jump out my coffin and dance.

    Bless ya Aretha !

  • @astraioshh , I would too .

  • Alabama loves you always

  • @Milton754: I am trying to knock you for how you feel because that is your right to see it the way you do. I loved Phyllis Hyman....i thought she was highly underrated....but at her best she couldn't touch Aretha Franklin...i'm sorry. Totally different feel comes from Aretha. Aretha ministers to her audience....she gives life to her songs like no other can do. Phyllis to me was a stylist and a voice of rare quality....but Aretha is like a soul stirring experience. She's just one of a kind.

  • from the first note, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. These great singers are national treasures and I pray they will control their weights so they will not die prematurely like poor Luther, who struggled all this life with food, hypertension and diabetes. These can be prevented and controlled. We all gain some weight in later years, but it can't be allowed to go so out of hand, or we will all meet our maker sooner than He had planned for us!

  • Awesome and Spirit filled. She sings from her heart and really spirit filled.

  • Awesome and Spirit filled

  • @Militon754: One more thing for you to consider is the fact that when she sings she is ministering....she is far more then just a singer. Go listen to her sing "With Pen In Hand" or "Change Is Gonna Come" or "Good To Me As I Am To You" those songs will give you a better understanding of her range when she was at her best. She even once did jazz singing and mastered it too. Aretha is more then a singer she is a experience and that is what so many people see in her...sorry you don't have that eye.

  • @DaOrigTruthSeeker Phyllis Hyman before she passed away had a voice that I think is better than Aretha Franklin. Even on Aretha's outstanding, magnificient, and the audience getting chills, and crying performance day. Phyllis Hyman can sing jazz, pop, gospel and soul just like Aretha. I gained respect for Phyllis when I saw her video of Sophisticated Ladies. I think that Phyllis is better at it. I know that Aretha Franklin can sing. She can take me out and put me to shame at any given time.

  • @DaOrigTruthSeeker well said .. well said..

  • @Militon754: What you hear in this video is a older version of her voice....when Aretha was young there was nothing touching her vocally. Aretha had voice, anointing, style, soul. She was what we called a full package....because true singing is not about vocal gymnastics and riffs all over the place. Aretha was a standard bearer...she had THE MOST SOULFUL voice of all her peers. So when you say you don't see her the way others do...it simply is a matter of taste. Keep in mind she smoked for years.

  • It's look more like a wedding not a funeral ! lmao

  • Aretha did that!!! Does anyone know what church this is?

  • @Emperor961 It is called Riverside Church in Upper Manhattan, NYC.

  • That's my chick! I will never be her, but I will light up service in the morning with this song! You go ReeRee! To God be the glory!

  • May God Bless Aretha Franklin. Oh wait he did already with her amazing voice! You rock Aretha I love this song so much and the way you sing! xxx :) anyone who dislikes this you have bad taste!

  • I love Aretha Franklin and I am entitled to my opinion. I try my best to listen to Aretha, but I think that Aretha Franklin is an okay singer. I don't see her as the very best in the entire world the way people like to put her. Yes, I think that she can sing, but I don't think she is great. At times I think she is crying when she is singing. Not only that, she needs to have a fashion advisor who would tell her, you should not wear a gown where your breast is on display for everybody to see.

  • @Milton754 Yes you are entitled to your own opinion...even if it is ludicrous.

  • @Milton754 In your opinion what woman do you think is a great or even the greatest singer?

  • @vhickerson I think that Phyllis Hyman when she was alive, had a voice like know other. Whitney Houston is good. I think that these two (when Phyllis Hyman was alive) can overshadow Aretha Franklin anyday.

  • @Milton754 phyllis hyman is good but she does not have the power or the versitility that Aretha has and Whitney cant even finsh her song now so she could never be compared to THE QUEEN

  • @Milton754 I hear ya. I've always loved Aretha's older repertoire. I don't think I would have fallen in love with her voice as it is on this clip. It seems that most older singers lose their voices over time (Streisand, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, to name a few) and you have to be a die-hard fan to feel that they are still the world's greatest singers. Here, she seems to have trouble breathing and this must have affected her voice too. It is hard to 'disguise' such a heavy bosom.

  • What a soul diva. A mellow voice par excellence. No one can take the place of you. You got a special place in my heart. Get well Aretha. May the Lord Almighty lift you up to health....

  • If I tried to sing it like this in my church, I'd be run out with pitchforks. Stupid old white people churches. I love her and her voice!!

  • @smalltownmiss THATS RACIST !

  • @KessIsCute

So is my church of 85 year old white people

  • aztakúrva, nekem is ilyen temetés kell

  • May God Bless and Keep you Aretha. .......Amen.

  • Amazing to have Aretha Sing at Luthers funeral. He was 'So, Amazing'.

  • really a marvelous precious voice,to enjoy and to praise God, thanks for share

  • This is not about showboating.....when the Holy Spirit comes on you....you gotta move because it feels like fire on your bones. This is the old school way when the Holy Spirit shows up it touches the believers...and it used Aretha Franklin to usher itself in. This is how we used to do it when i was a kid and you could feel it was real and see the sincerity on the people's faces. I thank GOD for Aretha because she never showboats she just gets out of the way and allows the Holy Spirit to use her.

  • @READY4REVELATION thats why I love my church... they dont fight it if the spirt says sing they sing. leaves u breathless and gives you that feeling you cant get naturally.

  • @READY4REVELATION ...Listening to this and reading your message, it, became crystal clear to me. Got to me. Peace.

  • @READY4REVELATION amen and AMEN~!!

  • @Jlady43: I love Pattie i think she is simply awesome.....but she can't touch Aretha. I am sorry to all her fans.....but Aretha is the real McCoy and especially when it comes to gospel music.

  • patty is good but there's only one Aretha

  • The only person I could see sing at Queen Aretha Franklin is none other than Queen Karen Clark-Sheard

  • Let the Lord have his way

  • Pastor Shirley Caesar is one of them. Idk about the other 2

  • Sang Aretha!!!!

  • we love you aretha

  • At Aretha's Funeral, it would only be fitting for the original 3 Sisters-- In The Name of Love-- to sing a tribute: Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, and Dionne Warwick. Sends chills up my spine just thinking about it.

  • @bignoise2 She may outlive all three of them so who then???

  • The Heaven surely sounds like that organ!

  • Unbelievable ! You're the voice of God Himself

  • God bless Aretha, God bless her.

  • There are many great singers in the world. This legend is standing at the top, up in the rare air with very little company. God bless Aretha.

  • YES MINISTER!!!

  • Her voice never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

  • I LOVE ARETHA..BUT PATTI SHOULD HAVE SUNG THIS!!...NO SHADE!!

  • I got all my hair diseheveld whenever I hear this astounding voice. Voice from heaven indeed !!

  • aretha you re the best... we love you :-))

  • don't hate she has a profound voice. Who wouldn't sing like that if they could??

  • SHE SCREAMS FOR ALMOST 10 MIN. AND SAYS NOTHING.WHAT A HAM

  • Aretha is second only to Mahalia. All others pale by comparrison.

  • God bless her......

  • Is this in Riverside Church in New York?

  • aretha be wearing them KILLA hats wherever she go!

  • I love love love Luther's music. His funeral was beautiful. Patti LaBelle and others sung, too. BTW, Aretha has sung at so many of the gospel greats funerals; you guys know the powerhouse singers will come together, and sing beautiful, soul-stirring music when its Mrs. Franklin's time to be with the Lord. I can see Yolanda Adams, Fantasia, Mary J. Blige and many more putting their hearts and souls into one last song for Aretha. However, I pray that God keeps her with us a while longer.

  • This woman can turn anything into some wild American opera: range and power.

  • RIP Luther : ( Aretha I pray that you get well. God has given these people such a beautiful gift that has blessed us all for so long

  • who the hell will sing at her funeral

  • @iwill45 no one should.....

  • @iwill45 I think k.d. lang would be great. No one else has the depth of emotion and control that lang has for tear jerkers.

  • @iwill45

The most fitting singer at Ms. Franklin's funeral would be reincarnation of Mahalia Jackson. The spirit of Christ would come full circle and the world in the name of Jesus would be glorified!

  • R.I.P.

  • he almost had a cogic funeral wow this took me by surprise lol

  • haaaaaaa!!! THANK YOU LORD!!! YA YA YA YA!!! NO ONE BUT JESUS!!!! AND TO THOSE 11 DISLIKES, THERE'S 338 LIKES.........SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, GOOD/GOD PREVAILS OVER BAD/EVIL. THE 338 PREVAILS OVER THE 11 DISLIKES. GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE 11 DISLIKES!!!! HEY, GLORY!!!!

  • @TT1478 God have mercy on you for condemning them as tho they don't have the right to their own opinion :)

  • @SelfTalkGuru And you basically did the same thing to me by "condemning" me because i have/had an OPINION about those ignorant "dislikers"............ok?

  • @TT1478 the question is how do you knqw their ignorant ? and ignorant of what exactly ?

and how exactly have I condemned u ? I didn't say u were ignorant or bad or stupid or anything I asked god to forgive u of your judgement of the dislikers as tho they dont have the right to dislike and express their opinion..

anyway just an idea and if it annoyed you then tough shit ..haha just pressing your buttons u ignorant "liker" LOL :)

  • @SelfTalkGuru then i'm going to ask you the same question. how did i condemn the "dislikers"? why? because i said God always prevails over bad and evil? this is the internet, i'm not even annoyed. and by you even saying, "and if it annoyed you tough sh-t", that was even ignorant. besides, this is a funeral here, watch your language. how rude. no r.e.s.p.e.c.t.....*laughs to self*

  • I pray for Ms. Franklin's FULL recovery so she can continue TO INSPIRE others to help others and more. :)

  • If any of you want to feel something deep when this Soul Sister sings, then go give a listen to her sing the song called 'With Pen In Hand',she does a masterful job on that song. Just simply brilliant.

  • I so remember when I saw this on TV. I was like "what????? a praise break?????" Totally unexpected. All right now.

  • God Save The Queen!!!! Get Well Mrs. Aretha....

  • @77latoyat yES gOD BLESS HER AND KEEP HER STRONG

  • Everybody please pray for our sister Aretha Franklin with this cancer. Our sister has given so much of herself over the years and now she needs our love and prayers. I ask GOD to let his will be done in this matter. If it pleases GOD he will bring her out. Jesse Jackson said she ask us all to pray and not feel sorry for her. We love you Aretha!

  • @moroscuro25 WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE IS THAT ARETHA WENT IN AT ABOUT 7:50! THEY HAD CHURCH THAT DAY!!!

  • All hail Queen Re Re - you were awesome........i dont see how you did it.....i wept through your singing.......yes i was blessed to be in the congregation that day...it reminded me of the mega of all revivals....the Holy Spirit had the green light throughout the entire service despite the fact that it was stormy weather outside the Church. This is why she is the undisputed - Queen of Soul.....

  • The voice, different from younger days, but the soul is still there. That thang is real yall. There is no other. Spirit of Daddy came through & put a nice bow on it. RIP Rev. Franklin and Luther gone on to Glory!

  • The voice, different from younger days, but the soul is still there. That thang is real yall. There is no other.

  • Whenever I listen to Aretha Franklin, I get goosebumps and tingles up my neck. Everything she has done comes from that big beautiful soul of hers.

  • Praise be to God + This is a beautiful way to say goodbye to a soul.

    Amen!

  • I am grateful that I came across this video today... celebrating this season of Thanksgiving. God's Grace is suffiecient , his word is LIVE: transcending time and motion. There is Power in the Name of Jesus. And ..nobody does it like Aretha, The Grand Lady That she is. I praise God for the gift he has betowed on ..her...carnality cannot comprehend Spirituality. God is a Spirit... spirit lives on...

  • i almost cried... im 14... yeah i admit it

  • i've heard this song so many times from every wanna-be on american idol that i can hardly stand it... unless it's Aretha, she's a veteran performer who has lived the life she sings anout. she doesn't mimic soul, she creates it from scratch, producing more examples of pure God-given talent that future wanna-be's can mimic... she could sing the Yellowpages, and i'd buy the CD.

  • Don't care much for organized religion or the God thing...but I love Aretha.

  • QUE BARBARIDAD ESTA MUJER VA A ENTERRAR A MEDIO MUNDO Y ELLA VA A SEGUIR CANTANDO EN FUNERALES JA JA JA

  • oh lawd!!

  • TAKE YOUR TIME SISTA!! *stands up and waves her on* take me home

  • @1Skorpia lmao

  • its not the notes she sings, its the feelin

if you can feel/hear it then be glad and thankful, if not....can't help yo' po ass.

  • ARETHA TOOK EM TO THE MOUNTAIN... I LOVE HER!!! THIS SONG GETS IN MY SPIRIT EVERYTIME!!!

  • Doesn't do much for me as she takes forever to get through one line these days. Her voice sounds good though.

  • WHAT a voice!!!! I always get goose bumps. Aretha thanks for blessing the world with your voice!!

  • thankyou

  • anything that aretha franklin sings sounds great.she puts her everything in her singing.

  • im sad that he passed away

  • You can see how uncomfortable she feels. Her breathing is a little laboured. I am sure her grief isn't helping. Good job considering.

  • Aretha, u did that now!

  • ok...had to come back and say that they did a great job harmonizing.

  • I'm sorry ya'll, but do ya'll see the video response below? LMBO...seriously? I'm not racist but black people are have Church up in there...then I scrolled down and see three white women smiling like Threes Company without Jack.

  • @Ratseno LMBOOOO! I read your comment and went back to look and that video and sure nuff. Those folks are smiling all wide like nothing is wrong. LOL!!

  • sang RE RE with your sore throat...My lawd! SOULFUL!

  • Can you say "soul"? :D

  • me to, for speaker !!! only the left pour moi. mais déjà cela est bien non ?

    jipifrance9246

  • I have to say: Luther is really resting in peace and pride. Only Mrs Franklin, only Mrs Franklin... no more words to say.

  • This is the type of Church that I went to in Milwaukee, and it's truly amazing.....true fellowship is felt!!!!!

  • Thank you, YOUR MAJERSTY, THE QUEEN!!!!!

    Rest In Peace LUTHER.

  • Okay people. That is what I call singing.

  • I like the way she speaks like a real queen !

  • YVETTE SORRY ABOUT THE GLITCH HERE'S ARETHA'S VIDEO YOU COMMENTED ON.

  • GODNITE GODZILLIONAIRES!!!

  • i love to hear old school singing of gospel music, and who better to tell it and sing it like it is THE ONLY AND ONLY ARETHA FRANKLIN.

  • she is still killin @her age..... i love her

  • I love this women singing, as a young women on the choir the choir director would have me to sing her songs. I love you Aretha. Please make some more gospel music. Thanks.

  • Unbelievable! Glory!

  • Even though Aretha Franklin is known as the queen of soul, perhaps, it would be equally fitting to call her the queen of gospel too. Clearly, the spirit that lives in this woman has touched and led multitudes to Christ, our Lord and Savior!

And right now, I'm bubbling over in the spirit!

  • @sharonanony Many wish they had Aretha's worst voice. She has gotten older and her voice is not the same. However, she still towers above many of her contempories and will forever be a standard-bearer for good singing. Few can take a song and make it their own like Aretha!!!!

  • THATS how you hold CHURCH!!

  • @Sharonanoy: You must be a very unhappy person, because you say she has lost it,but notice how out of all the singers she was the only one to get that church going and bring in the annoiting. She didn't lose anything anytime you can move people like she did. I think people like you never had it and are too demonic to relate to the Holy Spirit.

  • @DaStr8Truth That's quite a judgement, calling another person demonic because they have a difference in opinion. God bless

  • she sung this even though she is ageing

  • That dance? Straight outta Mother Africa, a Holy Land!

  • iam a patti fan but i love me some FRANKLIN,she sure made me cry brought da house down, she could do this 4 me

  • Back in 2008, Aretha Franklin realized that she had been oversinging and talking a lot which contributed to yer laryngitis. She's takin betta care of her voice now and hopefully she's still fightin t'get healthy.Cause I want her t'b singin betta than eva.

  • @moroscuro25 The Holy Ghost isn't just for Sunday Morning Church services.

  • Este é o verdadeiro teste. Quem cana, canta, onde quer que esteja, no estúdio ou no palco!

  • that's the closest i get to start believing in jesus

  • the end of this is bad!!!

  • a interpretação mais linda dessa bela música!

  • where do u see patti at ?

  • @2bowling She's the woman in the yellow dress waving her arms.

  • "to the Vandross family..I just wanna leave this with you today....THERE IS HEALING!!!" my favorite part

  • meu Deus ... tenho certeza que luther vandros... aplaudiu por essa bela interpretação de sua amiga ...

  • @KikiSazuki It's church singing. It's a dirge. It's different from straight singing. She's testifying.

  • she having trouble breathing......over weight...

  • @realness6940 how bout you shut the hell up and enjoy the spirited and holyghost filled testimony of Dr. Aretha Franklin

  • thank you Aretha we love you girl for pulling through for Luther . . . . . unbelievable we lost our star (s) what kind of curse is black people pulling on themselves , we losing too many too young too often , that is a sign of a curse not blessing . . .yes I am venting

  • Queen Aretha is simpy the very BEST there is! There is no one like her!! Aretha gives you church for real!! Aretha, you are the REAL THANG #1 Sho U Right!!!!!! Miss Aretha, the VOICE OF GOD, influenced and mesmerized the hell out of our beloved Luther Vandross who we will forever miss! Naturaly, the Royal Queen Miss Aretha would sing for her BABY BOY Luther V!! This Soulful rendition by Miss Aretha is so DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love Luther and Queen Aretha

  • this reminds me of back in the day-when someone would pass they would have "homegoing celebrations" for the person. Not really a funeral in the traditional sense.

  • Does any know what she is saying at 0.28?...something and then "but by special request".....missed the "something". Thanks!
