thank you. I havnt studied judo...and am into my second week of Bjj just came back from practice 'side control/scarf hold' ... this is a good way to hold/submit the opponent down will defo practice this. thank you
yeah right that's bad technique try holding you head like your answering a telephone and let him give it to you once the hand is there like your showing you will never get it
wow thats a nice setup, i agree with kosen judo both arts compliment each other, i dont see how this is stealing a move though? if you read bjj theory and technique by renzo gracie he gives credit to judo where its due!
Hey I know what I'll do,....I'll go find the Judo manual, steal every f'in ground technique move and call it f'in Brazilian joo-jitzoo. Then I'll f'in market it to the f'in retarded american chicken-brains, who will eat it up like a big-mac meal.
There is no Stealing in Martial Arts, its about sharing, evolving, constant learning. The debate of BJJ and Judo will never end obviously, but I enjoy both arts. Judo came from Japanese JuJitsu, BJJ came out of Judo...Both arts compliment each other.
You seem very cranky for some reason. If your BJJ school is of the McDojo type, which you unfortunatly stereotype, you'll quickly find out how much you've been cheeted when you enter a tournament.
If you can actually believe that one can steal a technique, how is it stealing to say that we are doing a Kesa Gatame? That's giving due to what it's called. Since Judo doesn't copyrwrite it's moves, nor demand royalities, stealing is pretty silly way to describe it.
Helio Gracie took all the stuff that had a high probability rate and actually worked REEEAAALLLY well against bigger, more badass guys and turned it into Gracie jiujitsu, which is why it is more useful. Read up on the history b4 u insult a martial art
Hey I know,...I think i'll go find the Judo manual, copy every f'in ground technique in the f'in book and call it f'in Brazilian f'in joo-jitzoo, then f'in market it to f'in retarded americans who will buy anything in massive quantities if its marketed to their chicken-brain mentality properly.
I'm a little confused. Are you meaning he did not learn a single throw or he didn't learn a watered down throw. Every Gracie School I know teaches throws and takedowns, they may not practice the throws as often as Judoka, but the throws are very similar to Judo Throws, if not the same.
I think in all forms of Jiu Jitsu (at the end of the day there's no real difference) you should learn the mechanics of the moves then create things that work for you, it's great to see that the style is still and will forever be evolving. I study Japanese Jiu Jitsu but have a lot of respect for the BJJ style as well, I think a lot of people tend to "hate" on it for no real reason.
Not this debate again....BJJ did come from Judo, which came from Jujutsu, but it is certainly not watered down! It's actually opposite...with new techniques developing constantly from practitioners world wide.
kosenjudo, you dont have to defend bjj. You are doing great by posting your videos on youtube.
Any open minded martial artist will know that all martial arts are nearly the same, just practiced differently.
Anyways, I the triangle choke is my favorite move and i feels its a great beginner move that will help you discover many other submissions that may be hard to understand.
Thats right its concentrates more on certain points making it stronger in some areas than Jiu jitsu and judo are but judo and jiu jitsu have areas where they are stronger it all depends on wat you are looking for in an art
