  • I loved this quick video highlighting several lessons! Thank you!

  • i got lost

  • Its not muscle memory..you might want to look into (RECENT) cognitive behavior studies. Nonetheless your strategy is good, like many others. Nice video!

  • Hi. I am 12 and have a 6 year old female German shepherd who about two years ago got this thing where she won't be in the Same room as me without having her ears flat tail between legs and whining. Any suggestions?

  • Hehe love the song at the begining

  • Thank you! you are my role model! you have inspired me to be a trainer and go to college!

  • how do you get your dog to know that biting someone is not okay?

  • I love all your videos!

Who are the people that give you the thumbs down and why?!

On the other hand why even care?

Keep up the good work and thank you

  • Thanks but how do u use a pee pad like how do u get them to use it

  • Comment removed

  • @wwzwlmd

I never used pee pads, but I think they are scented of pheromones with dog urine to attract the dog. (But not a 100% sure) of course you want to help him/her get there and once he does you want to praise him/her. Later on, I believe you take the pee pad outside and encourage the dog to use it out doors and slowly remove it over time.(Correct me if I am wrong)

  • Anyone know what I should use as a treat for a 1 1/2 month old cocker spaniel? I need this help! lol

  • this is so gonna help when i get my gsd puppy!!cant wait!!

  • Huh, I just now noticed that you used music by fellow youtuber finnbjerke. . . that is so cool. So, guess what - I have a puppy coming to me this Thursday. YIKES. I'm so simultaneously excited and scared it's almost stupid. I'm watching your videos to keep my focus.

  • Thanks for your great training videos...love your positive approach!!! I am learning soooo much.

  • Love your videos. Thanks for all the great easy-to-follow training advice!

  • Awesome tutorials!! I love your videos!

Keep em coming! I'm a fan for life!

  • this is the only channel i subscribed to :) you offer the best tutorial. Thanks so much! It's fun learning how to understand dog behaviour and training them...

  • Excellent video thanks for posting

  • thank you very very very... very! much!!!

  • I love your videos and am looking forward to more clicker training information. Especially traveling with your dog!

  • "I like it when you do that with your butt"

    LOL Emily is so cool

  • That's a great idea. I like the kissing noise much better than "leave it" as a cue

  • when you whistled in this video my dog immediatley turned to the TV, i like your videos and hope to use the techniques with my dogs.

doubt it will work to well as my dogs are fully grown but worth a try.

both dogs are verry smart in their own way, e.g. one is house trained but cannot fetch ect and the other does pretty much everything but can be disobedient.

    keep making videos 5/5

  • Good video and the fact that you teach alternatives to punishment.

I wonder what treats do you use for reinforcement? My Yorkie pup is picky.

  • That was very very helpful. I want to train my chihuahua but it seems like he can't pay attention long enough.

  • Thank you very much for the excellent video. I sought a lot, buying several books, accompanying Cesar Millan, enrolling in Eric Letendre's group and others, but your explanations are the simplest and convincing. To discover your site was a pleasure and to know that you are beginning a systematic course is happiness. My sincere congratulations for the excellent work!

  • Truly impressed with your skill and sensitivity. I heard someone talking about compulsive training techniques involving loud noises and rolled newspapers recently. I sent them links to your videos instantly. Thanks for giving us these tools.

  • spooky is a darling!!!

  • Excellent training video! I'm sending your link to a friend with a new puppy. I'm hoping she enjoys clicker training as much as I do.

  • This is very helpful

  • I just stumbled across your videos and they're great. I have a 1.5 year old mini schnauzer and she's just started barking at 'nothing'. She can be laying quietly and for no reason obvious to me, she just starts barking and will run from room to room barking. When I try to catch up to her to distrack her, she thinks I'm playing a game and continues to run around and bark.. what can I do to stop this?

  • Would a 2 quick claps be okay for a noise or would that be bad?(btw im just researching for my upcoming malamute puppy) thanks for your time

  • Great show!

  • how fantastic. I have just bought a shih tzu and today I will be getting my clicker! I will never ever now use no or ah ah - positive reinforcements are the way to go. Thank you sooo much. I am now a big big fan - woof!

  • You really need your own TV show - something like "its me or the dog" or other dog training programmes, this is amazing!!

  • Thank you Emily. I really enjoy your videos. I have a question; do you ever fade out the treats or treat randomly?

  • Great training, we have a new Border Collie puppy and I have been having a hard time getting her to pay attention to me.

    Thanks!

  • Amazing. You are very talented and make me very motivated to practice with my dog. Do you have any suggestions for housebreaking a new puppy?

  • Emily, how do you know when to stop the clicker training session so your dog doesn't get bored or frustrated?

  • Great videos. I love them. You are an awesome trainer, and your explanations are clear and you are articulate.

You inspire me to train when it's hot, and I'm tired and don't feel like it.

    Thank you

  • Absolutely love it! Thanks so much for all of the helpful info and demonstrations of the techniques in action!

    Keep them coming :)

  • clap is good too

  • You are a "natural" talent at this. You are amazing. Keep it up!

  • That is just amazing! I'm trying it with my 9 week old ausse and it's working alright, I think either a) her awards arn't good enough (..I thought they were pretty good though..) and or B) She's too distracted.

    But still, just amazing!

  • What a great video! Thanks, I'm going to start doing this straight away with my puppy(I wish I had found this earlier, I always wondered how to stop something in a positive manner). Though first I'll have to convince my dad that clicker training really works, as when he grew up he was told to do things like shove your dog's nose into their poop. He doesn't do things like this with our pup, but still isn't that positive. Does this eliminate the behavior, or only stops them doing it at that time?

  • thankyou

  • thanks :*

  • thank you!

  • great dog trainer ever..

  • please..i m waiting for the episode 2...

  • Great videos, I am definiatly going to be stopping back here once I get my puppy!

  • Awesome video!!!

  • Thanks so much for all the videos. There doesn't seem to be any knowledgeable clicker/positive trainers in my area. Recently got a little poodle aussie mix. The positive interrupter has helped I've used it with digging in the yard. This puppy is probably more play motivated than food, but she is also very nippy when shegets excited as we play. She nips either on my hand that has a toy my leg or pants. If she does this I do say ouch cuz it hurts and then stop playing. Any other tips?

  • someone told me that the puppy should start training when it be six monthes not les, but here I found my self is tooooo late, than you all.

  • what kind of treats are good to use for an 8 week old puppy?

  • I loce you!! You rocks!

  • Awesome! Great music too.

  • your videos are very clear and helpful..I am just watching one after another...and then again

    thanks so much for these

  • I really love your videos. You're doing an excellent job explaining and showing how to teach dogs what you want them to do.

  • I had been searching and searching for the information you are providing! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I know, with your help, my Aussie pup and I are going to have a wonderful time learning and playing together in such a positive way! You are awesome. Please keep Dogmantics coming!

  • i really am enjoying your videos! I really appreciate that you are showing the steps and progressions as well as possible backsteps. So many just show results with a dog that is already trained in the behaviour.

  • Great videos, thank you

  • Thank you so much!!! Those advices are really great! Hope your next video is coming soon....

  • Love your no pretense style. Also like your examples a positive interrupter. I was introduced to clicker training for our first dog by a trainer who mixed clicker with negative correction. The dog learned some good behaviors but overall the training wasn't a great success. He has passed on now and my two kids now have four dogs between them. They want me to help train the dogs. I love your approach and I'm depending (in large part) on you and your videos!!

  • Great Tips, REALLY GREAT!!! Keep ON, Thanks a lot. Best Regards from Brazil

By the way, your beauty is definitely a positive reinforce :*

  • Wonderful!! I hope you continue these and I can't wait for the next video!!

    5 stars!

  • This is great, how oftern should you charge the clicker? We have a 3 month old Whippet pup, she is just learning about the clicker etc.

    Thanks for the tips.

  • Come on kikopup - when's the next dogmantics episode coming out? While you're chilling in Spain, we're starving for your tips!

  • Thanks for fast paced learning.

This beats the heck out of expertvillage's weak stuff!

  • more dogmantics!! :)

  • This Video is Great! Thank you so much for your advices...looking forward to see the next episode!

  • I LOVE this! Please, please hurry with episode 2!

  • I just wanted to thank you for posting all of your wonderful videos! They are the best dog training videos on youtube, and your two beautiful dogs are true examples of all the wonderful things you can do with a dog who has been trained using positive methods!

  • love your video's! i'm looking forward training my puppie

  • Oh! This is so great, you are the best trainer I have seen! I have learned so much from these videos, and I appreciate every single one! Patiently awaiting more~

  • Out of all the videos on here, Kikopup is definatly the one to watch. Keep it up, your making dog owners see the light!

  • can't wait for the car travel tips!

  • Thanks a ton. Very helpful.

  • This is so great. Thanks so much

  • super! can't wait to see upcoming episodes!

  • I really enjoy your videos! I use them with clients and learn form your teaching style. Thanks for sharing so freely what you are clearly wonderful doing! You are a blessing to me and everyone I tell about you!

  • finally.. thank you

  • Come on Emily, lets see the next episode!!

My current trainer was training us to heel and pivot by leash corrections. I hated it. So I used your pivoting video and man does my rottie LOVE to pivot now! I've also changed trainer to a positive reinforcement one. All thanks to you!! Well done, keep it up. Your training me and my dog all the way over in New Zealand!!

  • NIcely done! Move over Cesar Milan.....this is much better!

    Woof

  • LOL i agree with you...rehabilitating dogs blah blah

  • the other day i was playing with my friends puppy and it jumped with it's mouth open and her long k9 tooth hooked on to my thigh and it was hanging and i was like OMG RABIES!!!!

so i told my mom and rushed to the hospital to see if i was ok which i am so YEAH maybe i should try teaching the puppy not bite or mouth

  • my rott is 4 years old, is it still possible to start clicker training on him now?

  • great video! You've helped me so much just with this one video! I look forward to more! hopefully ;)

  • Hey Emily I got a question about the Positive Interrupter:

I've taught my dog to get his attention and some eye contact to me when I make the sound, and he gets a treat for that. That's what actually motivates him.

When we'll reach a level where I make the noise to get him off from the counter etc and treat him for that - what happens when I do not have a treat? I cannot be 100% of the times with treats on.

That's the question that bothers me,

    Thanks alot

  • Excellent , Using bull breeeds to demo is great. So many people write these breeds off as untrainable.

    DENIS. IRELAND.

  • planing to do this with my future dog ^__^

  • postive interupter~!!! I had been looking for that termanology....I've been trying to explain an interuption thats not a correction,,,, good vid...as always.

  • Excellent video. Your style is so comfortable to listen to and watch. Thank you so much for all of your well done video's. Looking forward to this series!

  • You are great. I hope to see more soon! I read a lot about clicker training, but seeing one of your 'how to videos' taught me more than reading a hundred books.

    Greets,

    Gregory

  • Awesome job! I can't wait for more.

  • This is wonderful! One by one I will convince people (with your help) that positive reinforcement is the way to go and alpha rolling isn't a necessary form of tough love.

I used your techniques on my very very aggressive foster Chihuahua and in two months, he went from an unadoptable, untrainable crazy dog, to an attentive, and ADOPTED loving dog. I can't thank you enough. You helped him start a new life.

  • Emily, What a great service you are providing for us. It is such a treat to watch you interacting with the dogs and showing us what positive training can do for both human and companion.

  • Great job! Can't wait to see more :)

  • Good job! Your videos are by far the best training videos available on youtube. And i've watched alot!!

  • Great Job - so good to see clicker training in action, instilling confidence in puppy and owners and inspiring the rest of us.

Your teaching is so clear and you communicate your ideas very well.

  • Awesome! I love your method. I have been using your videos to train my puppy; She is doing great. Your videos help me get my puppy do do what I need her to do without the frustration on both parts. THANK YOU

  • Great show Emily - I look forward to the next episode :)

  • Thanks, I didn't know about the positive interrupter and I DO use my puppy's name too much. I look forward to more training videos from you.

  • I dont think most dog trainers know about 'positive interrupters' except at zoos and aquariums. :)

  • Cool yeah! That would be awesome to teach fosters puppy handling skills!

  • Awesome job! I loved seeing how you handle puppy mouthing positively. With the rescue we get a ton of puppies and adolescents with that problem and I'd love to be able to show some of the foster parents a nicer way to handle it. Thanks!

  • that's the ultimate dog training video that i've been waiting for (so long ^^). it's so well done, informative and illustrative (than those bored narratives) my LH dachshund's learning very quickly with the positive reinforcer. keep going kikopup! i can't wait to see your 2nd dogmantic episode!!!

  • Thank you! I will keep them coming!

  • Thanks so much!

  • wow this is awesome!

  • Thank you very much! My friends dog pees in the house for attention and you can't really stop a dog from peeing, so would should she do?

I am VERY excited for the next dogmantics!!

  • First a vet visit, to check its not a Urinary Tract Infection, usually that is the #1 cause of sudden 'mistakes'. REINFORCE peeing outside (amazing treats!), the dog is not at all house trained. If the dog does begin peeing, rush to the dog and lead him outside, saying "outside!" not in a harsh way, but as a cue, it would be better to do this if the dog starts sniffing and circling. The dog has to be watched 24/7 when loose or it will continue reinforcing itself for peeing inside.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Good job! I'm so glad you're doing this. Thanks for sharing your fantastic training skills Emily.

  • Thank you!

  • Wonderful! Thank you for making this!

  • You have done it again Well done!

  • gracias por darnos un poco de ti grandioso video

  • Great job! I'm gonna start on building some muscle memory attention into our training sessions. Love your positive approach, girl!

  • Congrats on your first episode! It's great to see you covering those everyday behaviors which can be so tough for most dog owners to deal with. Looking forward to your next installment!

    Tracy

  • Great stuff! =) Can't wait for the next one

  • That was an awesome video. I use a noise to get bandit's attention, but I have really never paired that noise with a reward. I am really going to work on this. THANKS!!!!

  • Great job on this video! We were anxiously awaiting the first episode of Dogmantics and we were not disappointed! You do a fantastice job of explaining things. Think that a 2-yr-old Sheltie who loves to bark and lunge at cars can be taught a positive interruptor to solve the problem? We've tried tons of other things....

  • Control unleashed has a lot of awesome exercises. Put in a couple sentences- use counter conditioning, cars in the far distance (perhaps dog is in a base ball field- driven there in a covered crate), when the dog is under threshold, when dog is calm and watching the car from a distance, pop the treat in the dogs mouth. Then gradually get closer and closer. Prevent access to cars during counter conditioning training. DONT use the click the treat reinforces the CALMNESS

  • I'm sooo happy your doing this.I've been waiting for new video's Awesome Job :)

  • Absolutely fabulous, I have had my 6 month old female Airedale puppy 'Delen' for a month and have been using your videos as a way of training, i have had instant results and its been a very pleasant and fun time for both of us. Many thanks and i will definitely keep on watching

  • congrats on your new puppy! Glad the videos are helpful!

  • aaah can't wait for the next episode!!!

  • I've been awaiting your 'Dogmantics' videos with bated breath.(g) It's been well worth the wait. 5 stars. Appreciate all your time and effort. Thank you.

  • Thanks for putting this information on the net. It is good advice and much better than many other self-described trainers. Keep up the good work.

  • You are such a great resource. Thank you so much for this. Awesome! You inspire us to take the right direction with our pup!

  • you are so awesome. very good job. you are an excellent trainer

  • Very helpful. Your are a natural teacher and an excellent trainer!

  • Graces by your videos. You are of a lot of help for many of us. Your labor giving to know the educacion canina in positive is great :) Sorry for my English.I expect can assist to any of your seminars. An embrace from Cantabria. Ason And Russell.

  • YES! I was waiting for the first episode... and the biting thing is definitely going to help! Do you think once my pup gets the hang of it that he will stop nipping? My 3 month old Border Collie makes me nervous around little kids cuz he nips and bites a little too much for my comfort... I know border collies do this bc of their herding instincts, so I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to rid him of it or not.

  • Emily, you are so awesome... I love all of your videos, and your training techniques are right-on. I'm learning so much from watching your movies, and just want to say thank you!

  • Great videos Emily! I'm watching and learning your techniques BEFORE I get a dog. Thanks and keep them coming!

  • Yay! We've been waiting in suspense for Dogmantics to finally start! Congrats and keep it coming... you're so inspiring!

  • You GO, girl! Your videos are sooo informative, Emily, and I'm absolutely grateful for your starting Dogmantics. What a great service you're doing for pet owners. Karma and I think you're the best!!

  • Spooky was so cute...I want a Bulldog so bad. Anyway. Great training tips

  • This answered so many little problems I've been encountering with Brody! :)

  • Definitely worth the wait! I love your videos, Emily. They're very helpful and informative. I especially liked how you explained why you were doing and not doing certain things- it made so much more sense than just "don't do this, do that."

I'm looking forward to Dogmantics episode 2! :)

  • This was a great video, and what adorable puppy stars! I really wish I would have known this when Panda was younger, she was very nippy. Can't wait for more episodes!

    -April

  • Muy bueno Emily, very good points here....

  • Thank you, wonderful video!

  • Great vid, we are already doing clicker training and this is helpfull to us.

    thanxs from the netherlands

  • So well worth the wait Emily - it gives me something to refer people to when I see them struggling with their puppy or with clicker training. As its visual and so well explained its excellent material. Thanks

    Sue

  • this vid is really cool!

i train my dog with the clicker ,too!

    good job :-*

    bye ly <3

  • 5 stars! That was a great one!

  • Hi Emily!

I am so pleased all your hard work is being so well received by the viewers of You Tube :)

I hope you will continue to make all these informative videos because they really are are so valuable.Youre becoming quite a star now I see.

Wanna watch my puppy Dude doing his thing? I am adding more stuff now. Your comments would mean so much to me :)

Love to you, Kiko and Splash from England!

    Yvonne xx

  • I love Dudes cross paws trick!

  • As a human (child) who was conditioned with negative reinforcers, it takes sooo long to recondition my sloppy habits, so I am ever grateful for what you offer, and it keeps getting better. Thank you Emily, for putting in the time and energy to make us all better trainers.

    Miyako & Tracy

  • Thanks Miya and Tracy! :)

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for this great video. Will try it out with my dog. Cant wait for the next episode.

  • Excellent video, as per the norm. Maybe a segment about capturing a behavior w/ a puppy (a sit, down, eye contact)... it's so easy and so much fun. I'd do it but i'm lacking any puppies in my world. again really nice video

  • Emily - Fantastic video!!! I work at a dog park and get a lot of questions from Park Members. Now, I can refer them to Dogmantics!! Well done. This is desperately needed.. :-)

  • Awesome video. It will be a great video to recommend to my friend who just got a puppy.

  • Fabulous! You're going to help alot of people with this. 5 stars.

  • this is absolutely great. So useful you are so clear and to the point. The filming with "real" dogs in "real" clients houses makes it so useful and such a learning experience. Thanks Kikopup you rock :D

  • Loved this, well worth the wait!! you explain things so well and the information is priceless. you are an inspiration to me and so many other people, your videos just keep getting better. thank you so much for taking the time to make and share this with us. I can't wait for the next episode :-) A big thumbs up for Finn Bjerke's music too!

  • Fantastic Video Emily. Please keep the training video coming . I am looking forward to the next one already. 5 Stars

  • A great help as always! Thanks you so much for your time and energy!

  • thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, skills, and talent! i would love to know how you trained each of your dogs to be so polite while the other dog is being trained. I noticed on some videos that Splash could be lying right beside Kiko while Kiko is being trained (and treated!), but Splash acts completely disinterested. Thanks!

  • Love all your videos! Have been waiting for this one. Wish I could have seen it a few weeks ago! LOL I have a new Aussie pup with lots of energy and sharp teeth! LOL She is really taking to clicker training. Thanks for your instruction, it has made my training better and easier. You're great!

  • Emily,

I am SOOOOOOOOOO grateful for your videos!!!! I'm here in San Diego and just adopted a 50/50 Border Collie/Australian Shepherd puppy and am using clicker training as a result of Splash and Kiko! I've read the Karen Pryor and Ian Dunbar books and It REALLY helps when I can actually SEE it in practical application. My puppy Valentino and I thank you!!!!!!

  • Hi Emily, We have a Siberian Husky Puppy and she is very aggressive and always to jump on us and trying to bite sometimes, How can we train her to calm down and stop her on biting? Thanks

  • Yay! I am so excited about these shows. I have been having a hard time getting my 1.5 year old Jack Russell Phyllis to stop barking at the neighbors when they come home. I am going to start the distraction training.

  • your the bomb girl

  • Great first video!!

how about....teaching the dog to LOOOOOVE the crate?? :o)
