It is a shame that you could not get onto Inner Farne, It is like something out of the birds by A Hitchcock.

Staple Island is as good in a different way

(more sedate I think) I am glad you enjoyed the trip though.

It is a Fantastic group of Islands, if you can pay for the all day trip, and make sure you take a hat.

Isn't it funny how I am getting all excited about a chaffinch and yet I can go and see the Auk, Guillimot, Puffin and Razorbills any time I want to!

But I've never seen a chaffinch in my garden before! lol

It is one of life's great mysteries, we have a large population of Chaffinch, although these are beautiful birds after a time I tend not to see these, yet the auk species where I have to travel are in some way more special.
