grandissima azucena (anche se forse la voce si è un tantino indurita) ... le dinamiche forte-piano delle frasi iniziali sono tutte rispettate alla perfezione (ceppi-tremendo-ecc.)...e senza ostentazione calligrafica... una lettura asciutta...drammatica..eppure tenera...dove a emergere è il dolore della madre ("ei distruggeasi in pianto" è meraviglioso)... un mito...brava fiorenza!!!

Yes, I prefer her costume in the Vienna production. In this one the hair makes her look like an 18th Century French aristocrat.

The costume looks like it belongs to something else, perhaps Cavalleria Rusticana. As for the acting, I've seen her do a far more unhinged, scenery-chewing version. As for the singing...nothing like it.

Very good acting. Very subtile and pure, rhetoric but not realistic, convenient for this opera which was said by Ricardo Muti "la piu mozartiana delle opere di Verdi". It is not a verismo opera! Thank you for posting it.
