Wow what an awesome addition to an already great song!!! It really does sound like the banjo was already a part of this recording..LOL That my sweet friend is called TRUE TALENT... to take creativity and imagination and compose into something that makes it BETTER and this truly IS dear...! FANTASTIC my sweet friend! I have to thank songpoemguy for sharing it with me and you dear for allowing us to enjoy it here.
Wow Ian, you have done it again! This is one of my favorites and your banjo is a great complement. I will try to use it as my ring tone on my blackberry!
This song sounds great on the banjo. As a youngster whom never really experienced the Beatles during the pique of their popularity, hearing covers like this sound refreshing in a day and age where most modern music has little substance.
Btw this was probaly the first song i ever learned on guitar, watching this video made me think of the time when i was maybe only 11 or 12 and my father sat me down in front of the fire and taught me this tune, and it was at christmas time, funny how music can put u right back in time, thanks for the share !
The other Grizzled Woebegones' noses could go out of joint.Fargone Beauties (Blue-grass band from Australia) do a great job on 'Stairway To Heaven' & "Rock N Roll'
Treemendous!...Boogster!...With you and your banjo....who knows how big the Beatles would have become!!!...LOL...Just kidding Big man!!!...great Stuff!...Billy...
boog thank you my friend you did a grate job on this what is funny john lennon first started playing the banjo but the beatles never used the banjo in any of there recording i always wished the beatles wood have used a banjo a banjo in a song and my wish came true thanks to boog i gess your a 5th beatle now boog lol im down loading this thanks for doing it up for me your playing worked out grate it sounds like the beatles used a banjo this is awesome my friend awesome!!!
You're welcome my friend! I think it was John's aunt who played the banjo and taught John. When I first heard the story, I assumed it was a tenor banjo (4 stringer) but apparently it was a 5-string. As I understand it John tuned his guitar like a banjo until he met Paul McCartney. Lots of Beatles music works with the 5-string.
hi boog john lennons mother julia lennon taught john to play the banjo in fact he played a guitar like a banjo then he met paul mccartney the reat is history funny think johns aunt mimi use to say to john a guitar is alright but you will never earn a living with it john use to remind his aunt at what she said i hope you will do more beatle up come together julia honey pie taxman wood work out grate boog you have a youtube hit with this song a wounderful job the beatles & boog is a hit!!
