Purplewool - Awesome tutorial. I've just been playing around with this on creative mode. Having some trouble getting the minecart to stop on the Powered rail which is sloping downwards, rather than the flat one afterwards, but otherwise working great for me.

@BrenyBeast It's the South/West rule that keep messing your track up.

Go to Minecraft Wiki and search for "South/West rule", those are orientation problems only, not messing up by other problems :D

You can also do this bfy putting any type of block down (so when the power rail is turned on it knows which direction to go) then one power rail with a switch near to activate it, then one regular track, followed by three more powered rails. In the middle of the three power rails place a red stone torch so that they are always on but that the solo powered rail is not always activated. This will launch you just as fast.

Why not do 6 booster tracks in line, then power with redstone torch and it will boost you very far.

@Brenybeast No i don't think your doing something wrong. I think notch changed them to be more realistic. In real life if you were making a mine track and you did a turn then a straight. You would have to remove the straight to make it turn in a direction.

Kinda what NackoHulzar said. But when placing tracks, start with tracks on higher elevation first, then go down your hill, and they will be correct. for corner pieces, place the straight pieces first. (For U-bends, you will have to destroy one rail and replace it to get it to work.) In the last update the rails got a lot more "sticky" I guess.

Breny if you put 2 inclined powered tracks in a row it stops a minecart going even max speed. I put in stops on our servers 5000 long track using that method. They even automatically power after 7 seconds.

You should tell them about levers! They are way better than torches. No redstone, and they work below, above, and to the side! They just can't be placed exactly the same way as the torches. I think I use them in one of my videos, not sure, but it powers three sections of powered rails at once!

Its better if you put it every 7 and put a pressure plate track before it, so if your cart ever goes off without you it will stop and you wont have to chase it :] thumbs up so people can see please
