WOW the idling rpm is already less than 1000 just after starting the engine, no warm up needed obviously, and it's quite quiet, love it. I think it saved some fuel + emissions already even before you start driving it :).
i don't know anything about cars. i'm buying a honda insight 2010 but somebody told me that the battery and generator is really expensive. I just wanna know if it's true. thank!
You're right about Toyota's. They have absolutely no soul or character. Honda's are excellent cars. Honda is the anti-Toyota. Hope you're enjoying your Insight. I'm anxiously waiting for the all new, 9th-generation 2012 Civic to go on sale next month.
Can if operate solely on battery until you reach 34MPH like the Prius? I was just wondering because I'd like to run it on battery only for short trips.
yes and no, when you go in eco. mode it uses the battery and the engine with the same amount of power... however it limits the AC and does not idle when stoped... but the bat does charge from friction when stoping, oh and while on a down hill decent it will partly coast and will use eco. mode... :)
lol i did a really similar video on my insight. I think the personal reviews by regular people make the cars seem more precious and special. good job!
I agree 100%. I have had my Insight since July 2nd. and I couldn't be happier with my choice. It was because of watching personal reviews like yours and others, that helped me decide on the Insight over the Prius. The only quibble I have is the horn is puny sounding compared to what my Element had. I am sure there is a mod for that though. Thanks again.
I enjoyed the video also. I have been going back and forth, trying to decide which way to go. On one hand I'm leaning towards the Prius, only because the back has more leg room. Knowing my driving habits, I know I can get more than 40 mpg in the city and 43 highway. I'm wondering if Honda will increase the leg room in the insight, have any idea's? Thanks for your comments. You've got me leaning toward the Insight.
@rbbayernde I would imagine that in the next year or 2 they will do an update. Usually car makers do changes every couple of years. Remember that the Insight was off the market for 2 years to redesign it before they brought it back.
hey what about Chinese and Korean?...they're short too...u know before u show ur face , I thought u sound like an Asian...anyway...I know this car has a USB input...I was wondering if it reads hard drive like 500gig?
Thank you for the review. I have a quick question - does the car make any noise when you start it up? My Prius starts up on the battery and makes no noise at all, this is very important to me, since I like to sneak out at nights. :P
Good review, I'm pretty sure you're wrong about the Insight never running on electric only though. It can run on electric only at low speeds, but when it does this the engine itself never shuts off even though no gas is being used. Therefore, it gives the impression that it is still running on gas.

Can you switch the instrument cluster to metric?
GoMetricToday 2 years ago 5
Yeah, it takes a bit of fiddling; the complete instructions on adjusting the mini-HUD in the tachometer are in the manual.

It makes a little noise... You could probably still sneak out, but you are more likely to get caught in the Honda.
