For the ones who keep asking: BLACK SOUL GEM(S) are NOT in the ALTAR, you to have to put an EMPTY SOUL GEM(S) inside the ALTAR, then Use any kind of SOUL TRAP SPELL(S) (also works with weapons that have a SOUL TRAP effect on it.) after the SPELL IS CASTED on the ALTAR (like if you were hitting the ALTAR with the spell as if it was an enemy.) check the ALTAR again, and you'll find that the GREAT SOUL GEM(S) has been turned into BLACK SOUL GEM(S)

To fill a grand soul gem you need to kill a power full creacher a person wont work with a grand. You need a black gem to capture a person. So its easier to turn a grand gem into a black and capture a person instead of a powerful creacher. By the way any person will fill a black gem full and it holds the same as a grand, a grand is just harder to fill.

there is a quest in the mage guild that will take you to the dark fissure the quest is called Necromancer's Moon. other than that I'm not sure that is much i can do to help besides tell you to study the map in the video and walk around in that area. but ill try to help if i can.would it help if i made a video of walking there

You typically can find the empty grand soul gems in the mages guild. black soul gems are easier to fill. they will collect human souls unlike the plane grand soul gems that you need a high level monster to fill completely. so they are the same power level as a grand gem just easier to fill to the max. I'll look and see if i can find a place that has empty grand soul gems

There is an empty one in the mage tower in the lobby where Raminus polus is usually at ^_^

I wasnt aware of any other type of grand soul gem other than the one that I used in this video. Are you shur you did it right. But I got them from the mage guild's they are normally in the cases you just have to pick the locks.

The duplication glitch won't work for me on the soul gems..I was actually able to find four in the Chorrol Mages Guild... I played last night till I thought I was going to pass out..I plan on getting that fifth one today. I've been to all the Mages Guilds and none of the rest has any grand gems.. On one video on here it tells me I can go to Melisande's basement to pick up one.. I looked all over the place... she has no basement..

did you try stealing the gems from the mage guild. when that happened to me i stole 1 and used the duplicate glitch. that's the best way if you can still duplicate in your game. that also why i have so many of them some were in my game i filled a house with the grand soul gems using the glitch.

the thing is if you are not a mages guild member and cant become 1 (vampirism might cause that) that would count as stealing and you cant dupe stolen items

sell the stolen item (in this case a gem) to the fence and buy it back then dupe it sell excess back to make up for the money lost in the original transaction. I normally fill a house with items like gems so i only have to dupe every ones in a wile

Oh, ok. And If you want to know how to duplicate items there is a guy named "FatalPunishment" and he shows how to dupe items and permanatly (sorry for bad spelling) increase your skills and health and resistance and a whole load of other things. You should check him out. I didn't think the dupe would work afther the patch and I have all the add-ons since I am on the 360 and it still works so I can get like 500k in a few minutes. Just thought it would help. :)

In other words: Necromancer souls give me a Grand Soul (worth 1600 when enchanting/recharging) but is there any sould that can be captured that gives more?

yes the black gems are worth more i think its 2000. the black gems capture human souls are worth the most in enchanting/recharging wise
