Even though I was a kid at the time, this scene really got to me. Especially when she cried in the phone booth. Now that I'm older, I find this part more powerful because I can sympathize with her. I liked that it was very believable because you could clearly see the emotional struggle between Darien/Mamoru and Serena/Usagi. Dub or sub, it leaves a strong impression.

@crybabygirl08 the creators of the anime decided to break them up. Read the manga. The break-up never happened. They made him look like one. Also Rini is just a kid, who Darien seemed to have this connection with. Plus he broke up with her to try and protect her from what would happen in the future. He loves her, but he would have rather boken up with her than to see anything bad happen to her. We all know they get back together. I didn't like it either. Seeing her cry like that..

I must say this is the best scene translated in both the English Adaptation and the Japanese Version. The whole scene describes how Usagi/Serena loved Mamoru/Darien due to what happened in the past but she still loves him in this life and DiC translated this perfectly... but... I don't get how and when DiC make their editing decisions.

@senorbusyman They won't bring it back because a group of dedicated "fans" have insisted that the entire audio of this scene -- music, names, voices, lines -- is not wanted. They have convinced the license holders of the anime to NEVER make this scene as it is above available. Instead, they're hoping to bring Sailor Moon "back" but completely different, and people who like the scene as is are pushed aside.

Unless people refuse to buy the new junk and speak out, we will be denied this scene.

I really hate that Darien did this to Serena, but I kinda understand his angle. Yes, he did it to protect her, but the line 'why should my whole life be guided by something that happened in the past' really hints at the fact that Darien has never had control of his life, from his amnesia, to becoming Tuxedo Mask (which he didn't even know he was doing to begin with), and his past as the Prince of the Earth. Ever since Rini dropped out of the sky, I think it all really started to hit home.

@wickedlynatalie You hit the nail on the head. I've never understood why this aspect of the character is overlooked. For the Sailor Moon and the other Scouts, while they did have it rough, too, there was an element of choice and ownership in how they could respond to it. For Darien, everything was thrust upon him and he never once had a say so in the matter.

And this is coming from someone who does NOT like the guy.

But I think that 'cause Mamoru's noghtmares were sended by king endymion, Chibiusa didn't disappear becuase eventually, Mamoru and Usagi would come back.

One thing I like about the dub is that Usagi (Serena) says, 'even if we weren't meant to be together, it still feels right being together, doesn't it?' That way, it doesn't feel like it is just based on them being obligated to be together; there is some degree of choice there.
