Gimme a break... a) it was a request, it's not like they ever practiced it. Just winged it. b) John Entwistle was an adequate bass player, but the best ? Jesus. Listen to some old Grateful Dead or old Yes, and if you want to hear the ultimate bass performance, check out Paul McCartney on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. The Who was Pete Townshend and 3 other guys who happened to be Daltrey, Moon, and Entwistle. Could have thrown anyone in there.
Don't get me wrong, the cover isnt bad but it just amazes me how a 4 piece band i.e. The Who, make so much more noise in their version than Bruce plus the E-street band. Also agreed, no bass player can come close to Entwistle.
I just don't understand how they do shit like this with virtually no discussion. I was last night's show in DC and they actually did Hava Nagila for per sign request, then followed that with Blinded - first time I got that one in 30-something shows!
Yeah, it's weird with the E flat and B flat comments. I don't think he's playing with a capo. Maybe they tune to Eb and he calls it out "Eb" instead of just saying "E". Or, he's nuts and actually started the song in Ab. I won't question the BOSS. haha
its only rock n roll!!!!! free spirited and raw just the way it should be!!

Yeah, the Boss had to try to find the right key for "Mountain of Love". At one part, he said, "Man, I can't sing THAT high!"

I knew Garry was a good bass player, but here you can see his real tallent.
Awesome that Bruce and the band play songs they've never done before, and they still sound great!

John Entwhistle and Garry Tallent - two of the greatest rock bass players.

There was The Ox and everyone else could battle for second place as far as bass players are concerned. Oh and BTW, no 'H' in Entwistle...

at 2:35, you hear Bruce ask "What are we in? E flat?"
What an incredibly talented, classic artist. I saw him in St. Paul on 5/11, and he absolutely blew the house down.
