He built a brilliant and celebrated career as a ballet dancer. But, he also wanted explore other forms of dance as well. That was his main reason for defecting to the USA way back in the day. While he loved ballet and was an absolute master at it, he also wanted to explore other dance forms as well. That is why you see clips of him doing what appears to be combinations of ballet meshed with modern dance, etc.

did you catch the very early performance of him as one of two lovers statues? He had to be like 16, the posting on youtube is in cyrillic, though, done in 1968. Fantastic, and yes, I think his creativity was far too great for the political environment of his country; as is the case with all great artists from the Communist period. Shame. But glad we got him!

@crianzinha17 he was ballet dancer for the most part of his life, but after he moved to US he started dancing both ballet and new modern ballet/dance i guess you can call it that. God he is talented!

I´m not sure, but I think that music is called "Libertango" and the original version was made by Astor Piazzolla. This version ir very differente from de original. But I´m not sure... Try to find some versions on mp3 and check this.
