@atomiton It's closer to an ebook reader in dimensions but way more flexible in terms of function to an iPad in that it's a full Android Tablet. We're looking forward to the upgrade to ICS to show you some of the new features and abilities.
I think the 7.7 is just the right size and has an amazing screen. However I would just like to ask since the Ipad3 is coming. With the rumored/announced specs so far for the ipad3, compared with the 7.7, should I wait for the ipad3? or is the 7.7 close enough in terms of processing speed and features? (considering other than the apps of apple of course which are of relatively higher quality)
can you copy ebooks you already own from your computer to your samsung tablet through usb or anything? or do u have to buy them online through the tablet itself?
@RCracer777 I'd say the support would be dependent on the app, for example Droid Comic Viewer available through the Android Marketplace. Should be no reason why it wouldn't work on the 7.7, and it would be a great viewer given the screen quality.
Would you please kindly test the actaul startup time and some 3D games as well. plus, a benchmark test would also be good to know. i'm actually tempted to buy an iPad because of the enormous developers support esp with apps & games port. When Sony Tablet S came out they promised PS1/PS2/PSP games to be available. Four months on and still nothing. my fear with Android is inconsistency & fragmentation. At least with IOS devices there is the contrary. what do you think?
@lynxman76ph Start up time is around 25 seconds, but remember that these devices are for the most part used as "always on", and have very long stand by times. You only ever really need to actually shut down on a plane or a major system update. As far as 3D games, I haven't tested that but I would suggest something like the Asus Transformer Prime if gaming is your main interest. Fragmentation is being addressed by all these new tablets being upgraded to Android 4.0.
Looking to buy a Honeycomb 3.2 tablet at end of the month. this is not officially out in UK yet so i wanna ask: is the CPU the new Exynos one? GPU capable of full 1080p video hi-profile & full 3D games capability? true it has a very long 20-hour battery? (on an average use) true it has a "dual-band" wifi channel? how long is the startup? is the back cover removable? what's the difference with the 7 Plus aside from the screen size? is this 7.7 better in many ways? Thanks.
@lynxman76ph We haven't tested the 1080p or 3D games capability. It actually lasts up to 10 hours for video and 50 hours for music. It uses channel bonding which combines two channels for wifi. Back cover is not removable. Has better screen, thinner, lighter, and faster than the 7 Plus. I'll have to test startup with a unit when we get one back. In essence, this is a superior model to the 7 Plus.
@Joelifant Yes on that particular app there was a little bit of a lag, but remember this is a pre retail sample version, they may tweak it before it hits the market and fix that completely. Its always difficult to review devices that we get because many a pre retail version so it's not really fair.
Ironically for such an Android heavy news site, your "share" bar makes the site unreadable on stock browser with some Android devices. It's horrible. Get rid of it. It doesn't increase exposure and alienates your readers. Otherwise great site/content.
@devanteswing112 Hi and thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it. We are working busily on a mobile version of the site to address this issue. One thing that can be done is to collapse the bar by pressing the actual share button. However we understand that isn't the solution, and we should have the mobile site up and running early in the New Year. We do appreciate your comments.
@RitchiesRoomTV Clicking "share" to rid the floater is an offensive suggestion. Do you really want the negative associations with nagware? I prefer reading/linking source when discussing gadgets, and it's exciting to see an Australian techblog have first access. However, I'll stick with linking to Engadget/Verge/Giz re-ups of your articles since their layout is less intrusive. Many android users will use non-mobile site, especially on wifi.
@devanteswing112 We have moved the share bar to the other side of the post so this should make it easier to read the post on tablets and phones. Thanks for the feedback!
haha.. it's the other way around here in the Philippines. The Galaxy Note was released already but the 7.7 hasn't. but i'm still considering it. can't wait for your review. hoping for it soon. thanks.
How was it compared to samsung galaxy note? I'm trying to decide if m going to wait for the 7.7 or get the galaxy note. need some suggestions. Thanks.
@vheix The Samsung Note hasn't yet been released in Australia so we haven't had a play, but we intend to once we get a sample to test. That comparison will be very interesting I'm sure.
@kvskchaitanya We haven't had a Sony tablet to play with, and it's been in the market for a while. Thanks for your feedback and we'll keep it in mind for a future segment.
I'm not sure what the app was you pressed down on at 0:26 which accessed the newspapers and the books.

Wow! It's like a less refined iPad. If it's cheaper than an iPad, I'd recommend it... as it's more or less identical.

@RickkoD1982 Yes you can copy them. Easiest way is to put onto a micro SD and just slip that into the Micro SD Card slot.
