  • BON SCOTT ospite: suona i tamburi, il tamburello e il flauto. (1971)

  • Are we really that old???

Progressive album way ahead of its time......Sadly i left my copy in my Monaro and it melted.

Memories of the band at Ringwood and Box Hill Townhalls......

  • What a trippy time it must have been back then !

  • I'm 56 now and while I might forget to turn off the stove until the fire alarm screams at me ( I'm practising for when I get much older) I can remember this awesome, far out cool, dirty etc etc song ( am I with it??) Brilliant John. In all my years I've not heard anything to compare. I've only played it a dozen times on You Tube, but thousands in my head!

  • any LSD to go with that.... fucking brilliant cheerz

  • JOHN ROBINSON ONE OF THE TRUE UNRECOGNISED GUITAR STARS! UP THERE WITH THE BRITISH,EURO AND US GUITAR LEGENDS!

  • Comment removed

  • I bought this record 2nd hand 20n years ago and it's still in mint condition.

  • fucking great solo !

  • @metze25

    hi, i'm the writer/player.

    glad you like it.

    j.

visit my channel 4 newer stuff.

    j.

  • I am looking for the names of the lineup for blackfeather in particulare images of Tim Piper

  • wow,,, tripping music at its best,,, just dont tell my kids

  • very strange - very amaturish

  • hmm maybe you could move to london and start a band full of talented musicians that can play this and get it out on the road?

if there is an audience for the bad plus, there will definately be an audience for this...

  • yes, fascist, there IS an audience now, but there was a rather bigger one in the early 70's for it.

i've retired this year. i'm 60yrs, and have additional interests musically now, other than playing my guitar.

just visition mine and Sunshine Valentine's channel.

    plenty of new stuff.

    as to "breaking into Britian".

nice idea, but about 30yrs too late.

boy, do i wish there'd been the internet back then.

    JR.

  • indian classical influence methinks

  • yes, but only ~ 10%.

    most is Arabic and Persian.

really it developed out of jam sessions in my previous band, DMS.

in fact a lot of ATMOM was hatched in the latter daze of DMS.

unfortunately, DMS had inadequate talent to perform/realise any of the subsequent blackfeather material.

    hence the DMS demise.

one gets sick of LedZep covers and purile pop ditties after a while.

    John Robinson.

  • John I understand your very real concerns as an artist, but as a fan and for Australian musical and cultural history this album should be put onto CD. It is a real crime that we can not get access to classic Albums that we wore out in the 70's. I want my grand kids to get a copy

  • you are welcome to the videos of all ATMOM tracks

    extant on YT.

    just download 'em.

from what i'm seeing here on YT, Warner Bros should be begging me to say yes to a release.

Maybe they got scared off when they saw my quote of $100,000 for just my share in advance, of course.

i don't want ANY company touch my work, unless the release is international and has a huge advance attached.

    JR.

  • hi john its sad that you do not want atmom rereleased as i think it would sell well today even if on to us oldies

  • hi lcrodgo, sorry it's final. you've got to realise that there is little support from WB, who have admitted that it would be a labor of love, rather that a profitable exercise. plus, band members/writer will get next to nothing. so, not much to go on. appreciate, that there is not a healthy scene in oz any longer, no live gigs to speak of, etc. this is a huge flaw in the way this country is "progressing". all our "art" is imported now. not good. John Robinson.
  • hi guys, this is just a note to say thanks to all the fans of the original Blackfeather. i have had to take a very hard line with the album, ATMOM in recent times. it is not being re-released. my thanks and respect to these ppl for this: Ted Lethborg, Sarah Rouhan and Libby Blakey. and to the ppl at RnR Scars: maybe you should gather all the facts and stop believing in myth. also, my apologies to Al Kash and Bob Fortesque, as your playing on ATMOM is peerless. Sincerly, John Robinson.
  • awasome song!

I've just wanted to upload but i saw yours so...another!

    Congrats very good video!

    Cheers Mr. John Robinson!

  • God DAMN

  • hi Submariner,

thanks, but damning God had very little to do with the

    making of this work.

i am glad you are impressed though.

it was recorded in Sydney in 1971.

    long time ago, eh?

john robinson, author of Mango's Theme.

  • What a great piece of music!

  • thanks moviekiller,

it's the net result of practicing hard and saying one's prayers at night, and living a clean life.

    (i'm joking,)

    jr.

  • hi guys again,

here's my advice for any talented young australian artists.

get out of this awful country before it kills you and your art.

even if you make it here, your life span is small.

much better to try your luck o/s.

    god bless.

    john robinson.

  • hi guys,

my attempt to halt yet another release of ATMOM has been successful.

    why have i done this?

simply because the ppl in that area of the business are not interested in the art, only the money.

and they take most of the profit, leaving little to the artist.

most artists from the early 70's here just love to have re-re-re-releases as it strokes their ego.

    i have no such failing.

    John Robinson.

  • thank you,

i don't read spanish, but from your text, i would say that you like this.

if that is case, i would say to you that i love spanish music and it's ideally suited to guitar.

my respect to your musical traditions and thank you for your support of my work.

    john robinson.

  • @djrbfm

You should check out secret chiefs 3. You beat them to it by 30 years! Still a great band that takes the ideas presented here to the next level.

  • the new stuff i'm writing is STILL 30yrs ahead.

    JR.

  • folks,

treasure the copies of ATMOM, as there will be no more, if i've got anything to do with it.

    DR9.

  • Hi John;

Are we unlikely to see the Aztec Music reissue of ATMOM later this year? Your comment would indicate not.

Also, are we likely to see a CD reissue of Pity For The Victim? I have heard great things about this disc.

    all the best

  • hi Crazed,

i own PFTV, and it is available thru CDBaby right now.

    iTunes as well.

there is no investment by record co's into 60-70's artists

any more, but they are still willing to profit off the pld stuff. bad hats, all.

i'm sure most of these artists have new material, i do, and it's largely being ignored.

it's a lot easier to rip ppl off hen they are young and inexperienced.

    john robinson.

  • One of my favourite guitar songs. I still listen to it. I love those Eastern type guitar lines and the drama of the track. I was reading at the Oz music site 'Milesago' guitarist and composer John Robinson's recollections on the making of the album. He said he was happy with the recorded result of Mangos Theme Part 2, but that it was a only a shadow of what the track was like live. Are there any live versions of it? I seem to remember seeing it on GTK and would love to see it again.

  • hi, yes there is a GTK version, but it sucks bigtime.

    live, the whole band rocked!!!

to this day, i still love Al Kash's drumming and on Mango's, the solo violinist.

    DR9.

  • FYI,

the scale is the 5th mode of E harmonic minor,

and at the solo, it modulates to B harmonic minor.

the "eastern" effect is caused by the minor 3rd interval between the 2nd and 3rd notes in the scale.(C and D# in this case.)

    DR9.

  • @mcphert1

    thanks 4 the thumbs up.

this IS really, only a shadow of Mango's live.

the crowds used to go nutz by the end.

    plus, it was generally longer.

    depended on the guys mood.

it's a good sog to play, actually.

    j.

  • I remember that GTK performance as well, bloody fantastic, but still it hasn't shown up the tube....somebody must have it somewhere.

  • I believe the violin solo was by Sister Janet Meade while she was high on mouldy communion wafers. The legendary John Robinson who has graced us with his presence can probably back this up.

  • yeah, i'll byte, sister janet was the soloist and when the wafers hit, she was carried out on a stretcher yelling, "i'll never wash my G-string again."

later that day, seeing she was in a weakened state, Festival signed her, based on this solo, and asked her to cut a vocal LP.

After this incident, she wanted to call the first single "the lord's glare", but was talked down.......

    john robinson, channeling Peter Sellers.

  • hi, the solo was inspired by the end of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Not so much Ennio's

great soundtrack, but the tension in those scenes. the solo at the key change depicts a blazing gun battle, and that was what i was visualizing in the studio as i played it.

    cheers,

    john robinson.

  • hi, thanks humpa666.

yep it was good wasn't it.

    john robinson.

  • This is one of the best SOngs ive ever heard the guitar solo is so f***ing great thx for upload this

  • @Humpa666

    hi,

    i'm the guitarist/composer of this.

    glad you like it.
