As graphic as the sex is, I wouldn't exactly call Caligula a porno. A porno exists solely to grant sexual gratification to the viewer. Caligula has scenes that certainly could be used for gratification, but that's not the movie's sole purpose. Erotic, definitely, but not quite a porno IMO. That said, great movie, great soundtrack.

Ah, Caligula, the greatest pornographic film ever made. The acting is actually good and you see some snazzy stuff like that Wall of Death. (Damn, that thing was fucked up.) But OH MY GOD there was so much sex and nudity. Most movies have like around five minutes of sex and nudity. Caligula IS sex and nudity. I actually have an interesting take on the movie. Caligula could actually be a really fucked-up dream dreamed by Alex Delarge from A Clockwork Orange. Caligula is...well...interesting.

@mythology19 I think Caligula was sick in the head, not evil. His scholars did say he had a horrible fever that casued his head to swell for a full day before he recovered. This was believed to have caused him to go insane because his brain had boiled in his head for a whole day.

Calligyla is a sick movie but Malcolm was absolutely perfect as Caligula the acting is worth to watch it even though it has so much pornography and unrealistic violence like the castration scene dose anyone remember what Cesar say's after he cut out the soldier's balls he say's- "Now he's ...happy"

@Gactivefy well, besides the music ... and Malcolm McDowell ... and Sir John Gielgud ... and Peter O'Toole ... and all the sex and gore ... it was horrible. Very Romanesque.... which I think was the point. Might be Guccione's greatest triumph ... besides all the sex and the gore.
