  • Are there any other pedals that go really well with the deluxe reverb and strat? I really want the bluesbreaker but it's so hard to find, so I'm trying to see if there's something else that I can substitute it for.

  • @stretch90

Try a Garage Tone Drivetrain. Very affordable and sounds great!

  • great tone

  • How would you compare this to the Vox AC15?

  • hey dude loved the tone and playing awesome :D hey i've got a question is the fender deluxe reverb loud?

  • Not super loud, but loud enough for a blues gig.

  • Hey man, tonewise I'm a bit of a snob, but you pretty much nailed this tone for SRV. Sounds great man, I thought of getting the Deluxe Reverb too, just hate dropping a G on it, "college budget". Sounds great, nailed the tone, maybe do us a cover on here sometime! Thanks

  • Hi, do you think the Deluxe Reverb is worth the xtra money over a blues junior. Love your playing

  • Yes. Especially if you want the classic blackface tone. And the Deluxe take pedal well or get a good bluesy breakup at upper volumes.

  • so does this pedal as well as a TS808 sound good thru a solid state amp too?

  • I've never tried it thru a SS amp, but I'd think it would sound as good or better than the Tube Screamer, depending on your preferred style of music.

  • ok cool...so as far as using a SS amp, do you think you could get a pretty good sound out still with these pedals? I guess the reason I wondered, especially about the Tube Screamer, is because of the "Tube" part haha

  • The Tube Screamer has too much mids IMHO.

I think the black Blues Breaker pedal would sound good. You'll get a bit more bass from the DigiTech Bad Monkey, or Digitech Tube Overdrive, or Reverend Drivetrain.

  • all right cool, thanks for the advice. How much did you get that blues breaker for?

  • IIRC it was about $100 approx. five or six years ago.

  • ok, cool thanks

  • Yes this pedal sounds good thru a solid state amp. Makes my sound tubey.

  • sweet thanks bro...not sure if i want this or a TS

  • Nice, but it would sound lovely with the treble turned just a notch down!

  • No argument about the treble. All of these vids are first takes. They are far from perfect!

  • I have the BYOC version of this peddle payed 120.00 already built and I have to say I like it better that my keeley modded ts808 more transparent and no mid hump better bass response

  • Cool; The BYOC sounds interesting. Thanks for posting!

  • This sounds really good! I wonder if you can help me with a little problem...? You see, i bought this amp new today, and i really loved the sound. But then when i plugged it in thrue my dallas arbiter fuzzface, it just didn't melt in the sound at all. I've heard that you need to play the amp for a little time before the speaker gets "softer" and can take that kind of fuzz. Is that the case, and did you have a problem like that? Thanks for the video :D

  • Sounds like you'd be happier with an "overdrive" pedal such as this older (black) Marshall Blues Breaker. Or try the new DigiTech Bad Monkey ($35), or DigiTech Hardwire Tube Overdrive ($100).

Or even a Tube Screamer for truer SRV tone.

    Good Luck!

  • Hi, im getting this pedal, and I was wondering if you had any information on like the dates that it was released and discontinued?

  • IIRC they were made in the late 80s & maybe early 90s, but I'm not sure. It's definitely one of my favorite OD pedals.

BTW a very similar-sounding pedal is the Digitech Hardwire Tube Overdrive. It has separate bass & treble controls & a good "true bypass".

  • Thanks for the info, I bought the boss blues driver before this, there was a revew I watch on the shredmaster and the man said he like the blues driver better than the bluesbreaker. But ill compare them and see.

  • how do you set bluesbreaker?

  • At home I set the gain full. At gigs (thru a Super Reverb) I set it about 3/4 or a little less.

I usually set the tone about 10:30/11:00 (IOW not quite half) when running thru a Fender amp.

  • thanks a lot.

    very very nice tone.

  • Was thinking about gettin the Vintage Reissue Deluxe Reverb, how close can it get to the Superreverb/Vibrolux sound of SRV?

  • Plenty close imho. Not exact, but quite close, just at a lower volume.

  • nice i got this the breaker today!
