This song is full of metaphors, the obvious is true about this song and what he is clearly saying, but from I what I get he is merely saying that we are all heavenly creatures placed upon this earth and what do we do, creat an atomic weapon to destroy everything on the planet, I think "right in two" is a reference to splitting an atom in two to create a nuclear weapon.
