  • This is great, thanks, but isn't it rather called for example "pent-2-ene"?

  • @RobertyGlobal if there are 2 double bonds it would be pentdiene

  • @lovefaithpurity yeah, but that's not what pent-2-ene means. This means that the double bond (1) is one the second carbon

  • Sorry Charlotte, but I teach alot of different subjects (gr. 11 and 12 physics, gr. 11 and 12 chem, gr. 11 bio, calculus, trig, etc)

More will come a bit at a time!

  • This is the clearest explanation I have heard or read and my exams are tomorrow! (Christ Church University in Canterbury, UK) - Thanks

One small point - I have to listen carefully as I don't have external speakers on my laptop and the sound is very quiet.

    Thanks again!

  • I fixed some of the mic issues on my more recent videos (the sound gets better, but it's not perfect yet!)

Thanks for the input, glad the vids help!

  • Thanks guys! I don't even teach this until next semester, I just had a request from a subscriber. Since I knew I would do it eventually, I did it early.

    Glad it helps...

  • wow thank you so much!!

my chem teacher has spent ages trying to explain that to me... you taught me in 9 minutes!!

  • wow dude...u seriously, joking aside, schooled me more than "school" itself. School (college) is so "do-it-yourself" minded. Thanks to people like you, people like me are able to learn difficult subjects like chemistry in half the time. Thanks!

  • clear and to the point

  • Thank you. This video is much clearer than my textbook's section on naming alkanes!
