@EPI6fingers I don't know if I would go as far to say that the Epis are better than the Gibsons, but my friend has an Epi G400 and I was quite surprised at how good it was. He only paid $219 for his used and it really is a good guitar. I was surprised at the quality and sound. Again I wouldn't say it is better than a Gib but it is easily as good as some guitars I've seen in the $500-800 range.
If you don't have the $1100 for a Gibson SG then the Epi G400 is a great choice.
Todays Gibson standards and the Gibson 60's special sg's are complete garbage compared to todays Epiphone G-400 standards and the Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversay sg's. Epi craps all over the Gibsons. only down fall Epi has. There under priced.
I tore out those 490r and 498t crap and dropped in a vintage set of 57'classics, tonepros bridge and tail, orange drop caps. Play it through a fender twin, and it will kick the crap out of a les paul. Never judge a guitar by it's cover or weight. LOL. Rock on.

I loved the slight over-bend to the "G" note in the conclusion of your D major riff. I think your low E string was flat (sharp?), but no big deal for this context. 900 bucks for it? there are a ton for sale used locally(to me) for like 700 bucks in absolute perfect shape, a lot of times guitar center has 100 off sales during holidays so for 900 its basically 200 off a new one, if you're already spending 900 then you should spend the extra cash and play the hell out of it.. then you'll know the stories to back up those dings and scratches ;) Thats the way to go.. not saying that used guitars suck but its not a good deal when its only 200 off a $1200 guitar

Most people think that SG is for distortion. And you know what ? You re right. But if you turn the gain off and review some old blues, you get a sound so good, so full so warm. In my opinion Sg its my guitar, not because distortion, gain but for that awesome full sound like the cherry on cake
@eamons84 my SG is better than my strat in every way, including tuning stability. because, believe it or not, there are different versions of SGs and strats in different price ranges with slightly different features and stuff, and you get what you pay for. my SG cost me £1600, my strat cost me £240. go figure. what kind of SGs are you playing?

it doesn't really 'suck' though - it's an old mexican fender standard strat that i picked up used - it's good enough, and anything better quality is more of a luxury than a necessity.
@eamons84 Strats are awesome, but all guitars can have tuning issues if not set up properly. A well tuned up Gibson SG or Les Paul is about as good as it gets imo. Don't knock em.
