For example it would be wrong to just take away a factory that someone built and give it over to be run by "the workers" or the state for that matter. Let me tell you how to solve our employment problem PERIOD. It's so damn simple. Place major tariffs on any and everything that is manufactured out of this country. But Bristol city government has been trying for over a century to dismantle and downsize it.

The $400k debt is in limbo, but in a worst case scenario it went unpaid and serves as an example of how a national healthcare policy would add income stability to healthcare providers. Hey Ted, I know a family of 4 (mother, brothers & sisters) that all get S.S.D. etc. (off of the fathers S.S.- he died from severe alcholism once after his kids were born). His wife & his dependents had never worked a job because they were all eligable at an early age due to extreme obesity and receive different sorts of S.S. benefits & welfare, (medicade) etc.. They all receive (just in money) over $3,700 per month and don't have to pay any taxes on it. They own their own home due to this also.

As report yesterday in the news by the CBO there are 1.78 person paying SS tax per retired person. This system can't be sustained. I and my employer have paid $135,000.00 in SS taxes . If I was given that money now and added $3000.00 to it each year for 20 years,at a rate of 7% interest I will have $654,000.00 .

Processed foods and junk foods are much less expensive than fresh produce and other whole foods. Some neighborhoods in many inner city areas don't even have a grocery store any more, just the small corner delis.

Social Security is the only Government program or Agency that has been successful and fulfilled it's purpose. Heaven forbid the government ever do anything for the people or do it right. The numbers of poor people are vastly understated just as the unemployment is understated. Working people are the roots of our economy. Without them nothing works. My father worked for the post office and retired in 1972 he received a pension of 720 dollars a month with benefits. needless to say there was not much steak on the table but we managed barely. my mom worked in a nursing home to help out.
he did not receive social security but did have a good insurance and medicare.
today my monthly insurance is equivalent to his entire pension that it took him 30 years to accomplish. i doubt by the time im 65 there will be medicare. were all screwed.

For example it would be wrong to just take away a factory that someone built and give it over to be run by "the workers" or the state for that matter. But it might be a good thing to have the workers reap more of the benefits of the profits of the company and have some protections from the whims of the "master". Like unions and profit sharing, for example.

Let me tell you how to solve our employment problem PERIOD. It's so damn simple. Place major tariffs on any and everything that is manufactured out of this country. Making it equal to the higher wages and employes benefits that are normally given in the US.. That will bring our jobs back within weeks. I live in Forestville, CT. Along time ago, we lost our zip code. Now our post office is in trouble, even though there are somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 people in Forestville. Its kind of an odd story, but Forestville is a large section of Bristol, CT that would have become dominant decades ago and all in all, that probably would have been ideal, because of its location. But Bristol city government has been trying for over a century to dismantle and downsize it.

@tenebroust The thing that strikes me about that story is that Snyder had a Masters degree and yet he had no health insurance. The $400k debt is in limbo, but in a worst case scenario it went unpaid and serves as an example of how a national healthcare policy would add income stability to healthcare providers. The healthcare reform we received is so woefully inadequate that I don't have words to express my disappointment.
I am reluctant to lay blame for Kent's suffering at Ron's doorstep.

Totally mind fuck onto society. You want to know where all that insurance money goes? I'll tell you I'm looking out my window right now and see United Heath Care building a second building about 600 yards away. Their first one is limestone. Yes I'm hostile at insurance companies because I was forced yesterday to reup my car insurance so I can move freely about in my automobile. Why is this mandatory again? Oh yeah cause the the politicians get paid off by the insurance companies to pass laws to impose upon the general public. Not a bad deal for them either they get kicks backs on taxes on all those plans. And what do these insurance companies do during election season? Make a healthy contribution to their fav Red or Blue Team

Hey Ted, I know a family of 4 (mother, brothers & sisters) that all get S.S.D. etc. (off of the fathers S.S.- he died from severe alcholism once after his kids were born). His wife & his dependents had never worked a job because they were all eligable at an early age due to extreme obesity and receive different sorts of S.S. benefits & welfare, (medicade) etc.. They all receive (just in money) over $3,700 per month and don't have to pay any taxes on it. They own their own home due to this also.

The problem as I see it is that people who talk about this issue as if it is really important "freeloaders", "bums", "welfare, SSI cheats" are looking at a mote in someone's eye and ignoring the beam in all of our eyes. Add up all the fraud in all of the social programs and it doesn't compare to corporate and Wall Street theft and fraud.

@jebril What's a handout? Social Security is paid for by it's own taxes. It's not welfare or for free, neither is Medicare. What's unconstitutional? Social Security has been ruled constitutional. @tenebroust Tes SS was ruled Constitutional because it is a tax. CONgress can do what ever they want to with SS because of that fact. As report yesterday in the news by the CBO there are 1.78 person paying SS tax per retired person. This system can't be sustained. I and my employer have paid $135,000.00 in SS taxes . If I was given that money now and added $3000.00 to it each year for 20 years,at a rate of 7% interest I will have $654,000.00 .

Plus I can pass on the 654K to my family when I die....if I die before I reach 62..SS will confiscate my money. Look at Galveston Texas who opted out of SS...many of their low wage workers make more in retirement than they did when they were working. I want a system I can opt out of or in,not one forced on me the threat of violence .

@TNMamaBear the only thing that has helped them is my father is a Navy vet so they have Medicare and my dad's military healthcare. But guess what? Her cancer surgery alone was over eighty grand, medicare only paid eleven of that, and they still dont know how much their other insurance will pay. Neither one of them is able to work, so I guess by the heartless logic you guys operate on, they should just go ahead and die? dear GOD what is wrong with you?

@chubnostics You should get out and meet some more people. Not all have multiple care, tvs and are fat. However, as for "fat" done any grocery shopping lately? Processed foods and junk foods are much less expensive than fresh produce and other whole foods. Some neighborhoods in many inner city areas don't even have a grocery store any more, just the small corner delis.

@preetor1 lol honey, I LIVE here, and I don't know it anymore! It's NOT the America I grew up in. We USED to be able to vote the bums out of office, but they fixed that by hijacking the machines. We USED to be able to petition representatives, call them, talk to them and effect change, but now petitions go into the trash can, if you call you only get to talk to their secretary, and you can't even get in to see them cuz they are surrounded by guards. Social Security is the only Government program or Agency that has been successful and fulfilled it's purpose. Heaven forbid the government ever do anything for the people or do it right. The numbers of poor people are vastly understated just as the unemployment is understated. Working people are the roots of our economy. Without them nothing works. Our society is killing the roots of our economy and it is dying. You must have a solid foundation for anything to succeed.

@Buckhead1959 What's your point? Paris, London, Vienna and Athens are large cities - more comparable to NYC where people typically have much less living space than people in the rest of the country. European countries also have a much larger population density. Germany is the size of Montana but has a population of 82 million people, for example. So there are more people competting for housing in a much more crowded society so of course housing/apts are smaller and pricier.

@MrMinutemen was trying to point out when insurance was not so common. - Not sure on the exact date? - But if you think anyone dying would not get into an Emergency Room, your wrong, they still get in, and are treated. In the 80's some did block treatment, but lost more in law suites. Funds are set aside in every hospital for those bought in without it. The system can work without goberment! - Remember the$1200 toilet seats, ect! - Search Halliburton on YT for one of the recent rip offs.
