  • nice...how do you make sure you get good audio? for example...if you shot someone w a lav mike.

  • @KwontumFizzix To record decent audio, we use a separate Tascam DR100 recorder when we use the iPhone or DSLRs for anything professional or broadcast.

  • I dono why people hate the idea of it, Chances are you will only buy it if you happen to have a SLR lens handy. its just means you can experiment and leave your body at home when you probs don't care so much about the quality. & use your iPhone instead......

Key point.... its not a replacement for an SLR or DSLR body lol

  • I can't see the point of this. If you have a Nikon lens then you more than likely have a Nikon DSLR too and if it's a recent one it'll do HD video anyway.

The beauty of the iPhone is it's portability. If you are going to have to carry a lump of a lens too then it's no more trouble to take the Nikon camera too.

  • @marcel911 There's actually a few new smaller devices that allow you to mount the adapter and lenses to the iPhone and iPod Touch (without the bulk). I guess people really want to use this setup to get that 35mm vintage look as well as utilize some of the benefits of iPhone apps like editing, coloring and uploading instantly.

  • Nice video

  • @EarthPlays lol its a phone... and not even the 4s its only iPhone 4 with the awesome rig

  • @EarthPlays Yeah, you do sacrifice a bit of the flat digital crispness in exchange for a more organic film look which has a bit of grain from the ground glass. Its not for everybody, but if you want that shallow depth of field like cinema cameras have, than its worth filming like this.

  • where can i get that lens ? i like the way it makes the shots look an do u have an idea of how much they run for as well ?

  • This video is awesome!!! I just got my owle a few days ago and I've uploaded a video too, come check it out and give me pointers lol. I don't have the encinema adaptor yet thought. I want to get one in the next few months.

  • What is this music?

  • @monsieurdejour Its music that we produced in house by us for our productions. We have a recording studio division.

  • This is a great effort I wish the white didn't blow out to much but we can only expect so much from a phone. Very good work !!

  • Very nice. Are you doing 24p post, or is there an iphone app that you are using that supports 24p?

  • @kameraguy 24p in post for now, but the filmic pro app lets you shoot in different frame rates and will soon have a flip function for using our EnCinema adapter on the iphone.

  • Holy shit, this is insane. What frame rate are you shooting on?

  • @dallasbagley thanks! 24p

  • I have an iPhone and I want my photos as it look like your vid

could you tell where can I buy the lens and the other stuff ?

  • @thecod4sniper100 There is only one kit that can do this, and its available in a few online stores around the world. Its called the EnCinema SLR Lens Adapter and OWLE Bubo. Check the Vid-Atlantic website to purchase

  • is this manual focus?

  • @esstev yes, when using any SLR lens adapter like this, there are no auto features. Its all manual and thats what makes it so much fun!

  • @VidAtlantic thanks for the prompt reply. My dad actually gave me his manual lenses and Im trying to find a way to implement them to my owle. Looking up adapters now..

  • @esstev Right now we are the only company selling a kit to mount SLR lenses to the iPhone. There is another company claiming to have one but they're not taking orders or shipping for a few weeks or months and it looks like the quality of the glass is nowhere near as sharp.

  • I know nothing about this/these products and I don't even have the iphone 4 (yet) but this video and amazing bit of kit has inspired me to just get on with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • @ShallowDepression thanks! its easy, just grab a few cheap and fast prime lenses on eaby, imovie or sony vegas on your computer and let loose and get creative. Its a lot of fun!!

  • @VidAtlantic As long as I can get something similiar to this vid, I will be happy. Can I buy all of this in the UK?

  • @ShallowDepression yes AppleWorld Distribution in the UK is the reseller / supplier for the EnCInema and OWLE Bubo.

  • @VidAtlantic Many thanks again :)

  • You know, think about it. A super-slim smart phone, like a credit card that you slot into the back , becoming (maybe through blu-tooth) the camer's touch-screen LCD. Editing, uploading, managing the photos from it without needing a computer, at least for most usage. you have a highly portable and connected imaging device, realising the potential of digital far more than ever before.

Forget about the iPhone, say hello to the Eye-Phone!

  • does this really have a vignette?

  • @yvesyvezz Yeah it does, but it can be lessened easily in post production using Magic Bullet Looks Gradual Boost tool. Its a very nice tool as well as using Magic Bullet for overall coloring.

  • How do you do this? Someone please explain this to me cause I'm a complete noob. I have some old Sigma lens laying around and if I hold it in front of my phone all I get is a little circle with a blurry image in it. :\

Also, you really need to make these OWLE things for other phones too. I'd love one for my Samsung Galaxy S2.

  • @originalkj Mounting a lens in front of a camera wont work like that. You need to have the lens project on to a plane first then the iPhone will record that projected image. The EnCinema adapter does all of this. There are OWLE's in the works for other phones as well. Coming soon...

  • this is like okeeheellee park

  • after i flip the image in almost dslr, it still saves the pictures/videos upside down…. help!!!!

  • @lifeform313 Most editing software can handle this by doing a 180 degree rotation or horizontal flip

  • hi can i ask if i can buy only the encinema direct to my dslr and how can attach it to my camera canon eos? or its only for iphone 4 and OWLE bubo?? thanks

  • @bboyinka Actually the EnCinema allows you to mount EOS lenses on to video cameras or the devices like the OWLE Bubo for iPhone, since your Canon EOS camera already accepts EOS lenses, it wouldnt be neccessary to use the adapter. If you have other small HD video cameras, then yes, the EnCinema will work fine with those and you can then mount your EOS lenses to it. Thanks!

  • OHH SHT amazing

  • can we buy this lens in HK? IF YES THEN WHERE..??

  • @dLupoon You can only buy online right now. We'll have a few stores carry it soon. But we ship to Hong Kong often. Also, its not a lens...its an adapter that allows you to mount an SLR lens such as Canon and Nikon lenses on to the OWLE Bubo for iPhone and iPod Touch 4G. Check the Vid-Atlantic web site for more info.

  • Comment removed

  • @dLupoon $199 plus $15 for macro filters needed for use ont the OWLE Bubo and Express EMS Shipping is $37. $250 apprx

  • @VidAtlantic no time to go to your website, can you cnfm the price for the adapter and shipping costs..?

  • Comment removed

  • I'd be more impressed if it didn't cost more then the owle bubo itself :/

  • @ohnoitsserp The next step up in 35mm adapters range from $2500 to $6000. The EnCinema is $199 and less if you buy the OWLE Combo kit online. Also, consider that its only $20 or so more than the OWLE Bubo but can mount ALL photographic lens on almost any consumer video camera including the OWLE Bubo, I'd say thats a great deal for a truly Universal adapter like this.

  • Out of curiosity, is the vignette an effect or a consequence of the lens adaptors? If it's an effect, is there unmodified footage available?

  • @rhithyn No, it's not an effect. It can be lessened in post though, by using the Gradual Boost tool in Magic Bullet Looks.

  • Hi! anyone knows where can i buy this in Singapore? cus it says some products cannot be shipped to international destinations, but i really want one....

  • @2kwing You can buy the EnCinema at the vid-atlantic site and we will ship to Singapore. The OWLE can be bought at the almlive site or try FlyCube Korea, if alm live doesnt ship to Singapore.

  • @VidAtlantic hi, thanks for the info but i think the almlive site doesnt ship to Singapore. As for the FlyCube Korea, i try to search but i cant find it... do you is there any more website that sell the OWLE? :)

  • @2kwing If you order from our Vid-Atlantic site the EnCinema / OWLE Combo we will have them both shipped to you in SIngapore. Thanks again!

  • @2kwing How about TurtleJacket?

  • Comment removed

  • @iChoreograph Hi Thanks! Basically you'll need the EnCinema with the 37mm macro filters and a photo lens. You can simply go the Vid-Atlantic website and they have everything you need (minus the lens) There are even full OWLE & EnCinema combo kits available there now as well. Thanks again!

  • that is really good. Is there something like this for the Evo?? I'm sure not

  • @Patsa2001 not yet, I think there are a few companies working on making mounting accessories for other devices like the EVO. Check the Vid-Atlantic site in a few weeks or months for any news. Thanks!

  • Well I'm a Film Producer myself and I'm into all kinds of gadgets! For the semi-pros and the pros and especially for the people who have Nikon/Canon lenses that they use for other cameras, this is an uber-cool gadget. With all my respect to all the comments below. THIS ADAPTER IS 200 $US FOR GOD'S SAKE!! 5D, 7D, GH1, or SONY's, they're all WAAAAAY more expensive than the extra 200 bucks you pay to get this quality that you all see here.

  • Or just buy a Canon 7D.

  • Wow, I'm amazed for a mobile phone camera!!

  • @highcolestrol LOL. You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? First you go comparing the NEX with a 5D MII as if comparing apples and pears, and then you say the IPHONE films better? Good luck in life, mate, you've got your rational thinking all messed up.

  • will the owle work with the ipod touch 4g

  • @MYGUNMYCITY I'm not sure...if the ipod has a camera than I'm sure it will. You should ask Owle that question. Thanks!

  • I really don't see the point of going great lengths to attach all these rather expensive accessories whilst you could have bought a well better capable proper HD camera in the meantime. As for using interchangable lenses; check out Sony's new semi-professional NEX-VG10E.

  • that lens looks like something you'd see in a music video

  • Wow... That was nice...

  • Submit your film to the iPhone Film Festival at

    iPhoneFF.com

    Keep up the good work

  • also to change area of focus ... u were using manual focus on the lens?

  • what were you using for panning?? did you have the OWLE just mounted on tripod?

  • @nikitaa ok last part of video ... what is the make of the tripod attachment for sliding the camera? @2:26

  • @nikitaa indislider

  • @nikitaa No panning. Using the indiSlider for slide moves on a tripod.

  • @VidAtlantic everyhing becomes manual focus when using a 35mm adapter like the EnCinema 35. Thats what makes it all so much fun!

  • I'm truly amazed, what an incredible image. And very nice footage by the way, awesome filming. Tks

  • this is crazy!!!

  • That's pretty innovative... very cool man!

  • Hey VidAtlantic. I had an actual dream about putting an SLR lense onto an iphone other night and then did a search on google to see if anybody else has done it. Doh :) Beat me to it my friend. I hope you do well with it :)

  • This looks awesome thanks for sharing. Love the look. I just ordered an OWLE, I was wondering what case did you end up using with your iphone 4.? I cant find someone with a definite yes this one works great with the iphone 4.

Also have you found an elegant microphone solution for camera mounted iphone 4

  • @may191 We used the case that OWLE supplied. It was a little loose so we had to fix it in with a bit of tape to be extra safe. They may be have new cases by now. And as for the Mic, the OWLE is supplied with a nice mic as well. Thanks!

  • Looks very blown out. Just get a dslr and then you donthave to flip the video etc. Dof adapters get dust and crap in them too. I had one and a dslr is sooooooo much better!

  • Okeeheelee Park?

  • @cherokee9040 yeah, I knew it would be a matter of time before someone recognized the place. It's a nice big park, but the red fire ants alway bite me! LOL!

  • nice

  • very cool!
