I definitely remember seeing the first segment, the one with the inversion, on 3-2-1 Contact. I guess they used the same footage for both shows.

Was this the prototype for "The Bat"?

No, the miniature model was built after the bat when they wanted to try and making an a version that could perform an inversion, the life size model was built before the bat but is not necesarily considered a prototype since its not full circut.
